After the initial plethora of "This newsgroup is cool" and "Erasure and DM are the greatest - are they gay?" posts it is settling down and starting to be a source of info for all our favourite early 80s bands. If you are wanting to expand your musical horizons in this genre it would probably be worth subscribing. I've already see several of us posting there. I hope none of you will abandon the digest. We get a little more specific here I think. Derek ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derek H. It has been there for years and I finally picked it up feeling theneed to be completist and let go of the painful sum of $12 for it. The mix is different to the Metal Rhythm CD. It is only 3.00 mins long, omits the intro and has some different instrumentation (more guitar) and backing vocals although it is not the usual wailing female vox we are sick of. IS this the mix that is on New Anger? It is backed by 3 live tracks from the '87 Exhibition Tour and the '88 Skin Mechanic Tour. I have not directly compared to see if these tracks are the same as the ones on Ghost and Skin Mechanic albums. I suspect they are. She runs the UK Gary Numan Fan Club. Gary's dad, Tony, handles the business side of things. You can see pictures of them in the Asylum booklets. You can also see the family resemblance. I have been fortunate enough to speak with her on several occasions and need to call her again but the time difference makes it difficult. I nearly met her 2 years ago but instead met Gary's aunt (Beryl's sister) who had the Berserker CDs I sent from the UK the last time I was over. This must be my 6th or 7th contribution this week, phew! Derek ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derek H. There is a difference between the Asylum vol 2 disc 3 (I, Assassin) and Telekon/I, Assassin set from the UK. The UK I, Assassin CD has a new track "This House is Cold" and according to Paul, it is the best thing we have heard from Gary in a long time. It comes from the I, Assassin sessions. To make room for this track they have used the album mix of "We Take Mystery" as can be found on the old 2 on 1 UK CDs, rather than the extended version that is on the Asylum disc. This means it has the original track sequence from the inital release back in 1982 and IMO the best mix of "We Take Mystery". I have also heard there is an outtake on the end of the Warriors disc that isn't on Asylum. I would like confirmation and a description if anyone has this CD. The booklets to all of the sets have full lyrics. The Living Ornaments CDs have not been released yet. Derek ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derek H. Also, I will likely not be getting any more NUMA CDs for others unless they are restricted to the UK Fan Club members. Additionally, as anyone around the world can join this club, access to UK FC materials is open to anyone who cares to join. I hope to get details soon from Beryl on what foreign potential members need to do to obtain membership. Berserker, if it does get repressed, will probably get a general UK distribution through Pinnacle. It should be easily obtained at that point.
