Since I started reading this digest, I've seen some *OBSCURE* questions come up and get answers answers answers and more answers. You people seem to know what you're talking about. So I've got an obscure one that I'd like to know the answer to. There *MUST* be an interesting story behind the songs "Fadeout 1930" and "Out of Sight". What I'm wondering is WHY WE HAVE TWO SONGS WITH COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LYRICS BUT WITH VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL MUSIC? I'd gotten used to "Out Of Sight", then a friend of mine brought over an obscure Numan EP with "Fadeout 1930" on it and played it for me. It sounded (in comparison) very weird, and certainly not as good as "Out Of Sight" (yet the music was the same). So I grabbed my copy of The Plan, cued up track #20, and played "Out Of Sight" for him. His reaction was the complete reverse (he had grown used to "Fadeout 1930"). There's just gotta be some weird story behind this... the question is, do any of you have the answer? :-) (And no, I don't know the answer, this isn't a skill-testing question... I'm genuinely curious) [~] The Liquid Engineer [~] If you're mindless, please take mine.... ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Feb 1994 23:33:08 -0700 From: bhammond@diana.cair.du.edu (BRIAN D. It had been delayed a few weeks due to Jim Napier moving to a new address. [such a big improvement] --Numan plans to tour this spring. --Mid February will reportedly see the release of the cover version Numan made of Are 'Friends' Electric? --Jim mentioned rather cryptically that negotiations with the UK Fan Club are going well, so he may become the US representative for Numa and the official fan club soon. This would make Numa records materials available to the US for the first time (as well as membership in the UK club). More details later when Jim finds out more. Me! It would seem that they have the distinction of playing a wider variety of Numan songs than any music station in the USA! There has to be a Numan fan in their organisation somewhere. And he must have the import CDs as the two tracks I have heard are not found on the same CD anywhere. Do any stations you listen to play anthything but "Cars"?
