The first set of releases were notable for having at least one song per original LP missing from them. The new sets, although I've never seen them and would love a line on where to get copies, supposedly contain all tracks from the relevant records, plus extras. I really must grab that Numan discography and read the juicy details. Apparently the Asylum set (released by Alfa in Japan, Asylum 1 has 4 CDs, Asylum 2 has 4, and Asylum 3 is actually Living Ornaments 79-80 minus some fairly critical tracks, dammitall), which came out between the two sets of 2-on-1's, has only one track that is not o the BB rerelease set (the extended "We Take Mystery"), and the BB set has only one track that isn't on the Asylums (the original LP version of "We Take Mystery"). If there are other discrepancies, I'd love to hear about them. I'll go digging myself, but I oftn make mistakes in these things.... mike -- atomic city | p.o. box 81175 | "Gosh darn busyness all to heck, say I!" pittsburgh pa 15217-0675 | metlay@netcom.com | (d. harkless) ------------------------------ Date: 2 Jun 94 20:00:00 GMT From: rwn@ihlpf.att.com Subject: FOR SALE: MACHINE&SOUL EXTENDED CD Misprint To: numan@cs.uwp.edu FOR SALE: GARY NUMAN- MACHINE & SOUL EXTENDED error CD This is basically the "Machine and Soul" album, imprinted as the "Extended" version but it is missing the extra three or four tracks which make it "extended", although the CD itself is imprinted with the "Extended" title. All tracks on the CD play perfectly, it is just that this CD was printed in error missing the last four tracks which otherwise would make it the re-release "extended" album. I purchased this CD for the extra four tracks, but am not a "completist" collector requiring this printing error. I purchased the CD during a vacation last month out of state and would rather not go through the hassle of returning it, and want to basically get what I paid for the CD. I will sell this CD for $19.95. Price includes postage within the U.S. Bob Neumann P.O. Sad to say this is the first new Numan I'll be skipping, unless I see it/them for 99p each when I go over to the UK later this year. It looks like Gary has lost teh weight he put on before Machine and Soul. The new long hair is kinda cool too. Foxx ---- If anyone spots a CD copy of the Japanese-only release of John Foxx's "The Golden Section" could you please email me. I am desperately trying to get a copy. Seems to have evaporated from all stores. I'd appreciate it if you check for it next time you go to your favourite import CD dealers.
