I haven't seen all the 2CD sets but the one I did see (Warriors/Pleasure Principle) had the same track listing as the Asylum discs of those albums. The booklet contained the lyrics but no photos other than the cover. I can get them from my local dealer for around $25 per set. >Apparently the Asylum set (released by Alfa in Japan, Asylum 1 has 4 >CDs, Asylum 2 has 4, and Asylum 3 is actually Living Ornaments 79-80 >minus some fairly critical tracks, dammitall), which came out between >the two sets of 2-on-1's, has only one track that is not o the BB >rerelease set (the extended "We Take Mystery"), and the BB set has >only one track that isn't on the Asylums (the original LP version of >"We Take Mystery"). If there are other discrepancies, I'd love >to hear about them. I'll go digging myself, but I oftn make mistakes >in these things.... Oooh, talk about a run-on sentence :-) Let me clarify further. The live tracks missing from Asylum 3 are added to the Asylum vol 1 discs. I don't think the UK 2CD Living Ornaments set has been released yet, after being promised when the others were released. True, the Telekon/I, Assassin 2CD set has the original album version of We Take Mystery whereas Asylum Vol 2 disc 3 has the extended version. But this allowed them to put on a completely new track from that era "This House is Cold". I've still to hear it but I understand it's quite a good track. There was also a rumour that Gary's first ever published musical effort (vocals for a TV commercial) is added to the Warriors disc of the 2CD set. Can anyone confirm or deny this? So the only thing gained on the 2CDs sets is a different mix of WTM and This House is Cold. If you have Asylum vols 1 & 2 they are probably not worth it unless you have to have everything he releases. I'll get the Telekon/I, Assassin set for that mix (my favourite of WTM) and the new track. LeRoy" Subject: introduction To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Hello! As requested, I am sending a short introduction about myself to the list. It sort of asked for a Numan specific history, so that's where I'll start. I have been listening to Numan since the late '70 when my friend Simon played a copy of Replicas for me. This was on the high planes of Nebraska, incidentally. Not actually a bastion for such things. Once I was taping a copy of _I Assassin_ at the Radio Shack in the Conestoga Mall in Grand Island, Nebraska, and a woman walked up and said, "You actually listen to that?" I said, "Yes." She said, "That's the strangest music I've ever heard," and walked off. At any rate, over the years I've managed to collect a great deal of Numan music. I would say that on the whole, I enjoy the Dance, I Assassin, Warriors succession the most. I find the mix of intstruments to be very pleasing. The Fury was probably the low point. I did enjoy the song Soul Protection a great deal. I thought that the most recent single, Like a Refugee was rather disappointing because the write up of dadadum (or something like that) was really up beat and saying, "Wow, these people are really ground breakers," but the song sorta just laid there. I'm hoping that other stuff by them will be more interesting and that this Refugee hit single is sort of like Cars, where it's okay as a song, but not nearly as good as much of the other songs in the repertoire. Let's see, it asked if I played instruments. I compose, but I'm a lousy keyboardist live. I do mostly MIDI soundtrack and music stuff that I can spend hours editing and honing. I write more than I play music. For money I am a Growth Management planner specializing in transit and pedestrian friendly design. So hello, I'm looking forward to what may come out of this list. To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Gary's Live EP was due for release on May 23rd. Was it? I have not heard or seen anything to suggest it was. The live album slated for later this month is apparently called "Here I Come". I am not sure if this is on NUMA or not. We might have to wait and see. It will apparently be a 2 CD set of a complete concert from last Autumn's Dream Corrosion Tour featuring Gary's new renditions of old tracks featuring the "new power style". Should clock in at around 2 hours. I also have heard another rumour that the first release from Receiver Records of the material they licensed from Numa may be released in August. At the end of last year the UKFC newsletter stated that Receiver had licensed 45 Numa tracks from 1984 through 1992 (Berserker, Fury, Strange Charm and Machine and Soul). The original thought was a 3 disc set. Most fans were hoping for releases of Berserker, Fury and Strange Charm with the discs filled out with extended versions and b-sides. Again we'll have to see what comes of this. Any independent corroborative evidence would be appreciated. Derek ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derek H. He is not on-line. Details have still to be worked out but it should mean people in the USA and Canada should be able to get the UK Club's glossy Yearbook, newsletters and merchandise (including Fan Club only CD releases). Paul is curious as to how many from this list would subscribe to the UK club in this way. So, if you could please email me if you think you would join I'll collate the info and pass it on. Send an email message to me at dlangs@sunstroke.sdsu with the subject line reading "I'd subscribe". Please don't include anything in the message body unless your mail program requires it. I'm just taking a tally. I was estimating about 20 for this group. Membership should be around $10.
