To my ear, they sound absolutely identical. I posted a list of movie soundtracks Gary has used in his music some months ago. I recently watched Blade Runner again, and I have another one to add - the "A chance to begin again in the golden land of opportunity and adventure" that comes in "From Russia Infected", and other places in the album, is taken from the movie. So far Blade Runner has featured in Call out the Dogs, Time to Die and various songs in Outland. Gary seems to be very heavy on this movie. Also, I was watching VH1 a few weekends ago when they were doing a feature on British acts in the early '80s, and they played - you guessed it - Cars! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 8 Jul 1994 15:25:52 -0700 From: dlangs%sunstroke@sdsu.edu (Derek Langsford) Subject: CDiscography To: numan@cs.uwp.edu On Date: Sun, 26 Jun 1994 12:45:16 -0400 flargh@tiac.net (Peter A. LeRoy" Subject: Numan Interview, Radio Heart and Live Stuff To: numan@cs.uwp.edu In the last digest someone mentioned "White Noise" being the best Numan live album. It was very good, but I think that the production and presentation on Ghost is much better. Regarding the numan Interview on MuchMusic, I'd very much like to get a copy of that, if at all possible. As for Radio Heart, I only have a 45 of it. The label reads "Radio Heart featuring Gary Numan" and I haven't listened to it in some time, due to the fact that I don't have a turntable these days. However, the song was written a produced by Hugh Nicholson and was released in 1987. It's B side is an instrumental version of Radio Heart. Actually, I bought it at the same time as I bought the 45 for I Still Remember - this is the only Numa 45 I have ever seen. It's b side is Puppets and has the proceeds going to the RSPCA. The Numa CD was released in late 86, so I think the two hit the states at the same time. What I would like to see is a Numan Video retrospective. The videos are damn hard to come by. J. This was the first time I had the pleasure of finding any Numan stuff I didn't have for over a year. (I don't have much Numan stuff either, believe me!) I found 3 CD's in a newly opened store in Boardman, Ohio. (Not exactly a hotbed for Numan related stuff!) I managed to find THE OTHER SIDE OF GARY NUMAN, THE BEST OF GARY NUMAN '78-'83, and a strange one called THE DOCUMENT SERIES PRESENTS GARY NUMAN. I'd never heard of any of these. The one I treasure is THE OTHER SIDE OF GARY NUMAN, because it's the first time I've really had a chance to hear anything he's recorded between 1983 and 1990. I've been receiving the NUMAN DIGEST for about three months now, and I'm thrilled to have found it. It's really nice to be able to read stuff written by people who don't ask "Gary Who?" I really enjoy all of Gary's music, from his "punky" days up to, and including, the newer, dancier stuff. He's a real character and sorely underappreciated for what he's done. Anyone who wants to sell ANY Gary CD's, please contact me!!! I'll buy anything on CD I can get...if I don't have it. Considering that I only have 5 CD's of his stuff, I think you'll have something I don't have! It was an official release back in 1985 after the Berserker Tour. I think it was UK only as it was on Gary's own NUMA label. It was released in the UK on CD last year (Catalogue number is NUMACD 1002). I am surpised you can't find it. Have you tried HMV? That I have heard is the biggest music store in the USA! It should still be orderable as well. Good luck, Derek ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derek H.
