I'm glad that I got it. I've always loved "Here Am I" and "Time To Die". Is it my imagination or are we all in dire need of a "Berserker" re-pressing? What is even worse for me is that I was supposed to have one but the stupid bloody Royal Mail lost mine. AAArrghhhhh!!!!! I wish that they would do something about it, since they would sell enough copies of it to make it worth they're while. After all , how many compilations are out that have a few songs from it! Well, one can always hope. Hi Derek! Shane King Oh yah, I'm sending out this message again..... One of my friends is selling his Numan collection.... Just about everything that there is to have, he's got....Both Vinyl and CD. He'd like to sell it whole, but I don't anyone has that much money. If there is anything rare or common that you want, mail me. The one thing that I know he hasn't got is "Berserker" on CD. And if he did, I'd have first crack at it anyway! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 08 Aug 94 15:46:43 EDT From: MidgeUre@aol.com Subject: Intro Letter To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Hello everyone, I was ecstatic to discover this service. I'm sure you all know how few and far between Numan fans seem to be. My name is Dave Carlson, I'm 27, from the Chicago area and have been a Numan fan for about 10 years. I have a rather large collection of both audio and video and have accumulated some very rare items (such as the Tubeway Army Live at the Roxy from 1978). My top five favorite Numan songs are: 1) Berserker 2) Voix 3) My World Storm 4) Moral 5) Time to Die. I must say that I enjoy the newer stuff as much, if not more, than the older material and I get rather tired of hearing things like, "I wish he would make more songs like the old stuff" and "his new stuff is the worst ever". I remember hearing how "The Fury" was such crap when it came out, now I hear people say "Why can't he make more albums like 'The Fury'?" Remember, just because it's new, it doesn't mean it's bad. (Despite what the Republicans would have us believe). ;-) Last issue someone wrote in and said that they considered "Outland" to be "sub-par" in one sentence, then in the very next sentence declared that they had never listened to it! How can you evaluate an album that you've never heard? Reminds me of the "Last Temptation of Christ" uproar. Sorry for getting on the soapbox. I'll quickly make my exit now. Dave ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Aug 94 16:54:46 EDT From: AnuKirk@aol.com Subject: Me! I connect to you To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Hello all. My name is Anu Kirk. I'm 25 and live in Los Angeles. I graduated from Dartmouth College in 1991 with an Economics degree. I'm currently trying to get my band a record deal. Aside from Numan, my musical tastes are broad, ranging from experimental electro-acoustic music to Metallica to Lyle Lovett to Aphex Twin. I'll try anything once. I've been listening to Gary Numan since a friend played me "Do you need the service?" in 1985 and told me it was the same guy that did that "Cars" song. He neglected to give me the title and I ended up buying one Numan vinyl LP after another (mostly cutouts, ranging from $.99-$4.99) trying to find it. I eventually had all of the albums and started buying singles for the b-sides. In 1990 I went to Japan and bought the first two "Asylum" sets and subsequently sold off most of my vinyl and singles. I haven't really been into his new stuff since he put out "Outland", which I found disappointing. I play guitar, bass, keyboards, and sing. I'm currently working on a solo cassette of Gary Numan covers which barely resemble the originals. If anyone's interested in hearing it, mail me and I'll send you a copy when it's done. I'm glad to be a part of the list. AnuKirk@aol.com ------------------------------ End of Gary Numan Digest ******************************
