He's playing material that has not been heard before live and he's playing a lot of older material. Pray, Question of Faith, I Dream of Wires, Praying to the Aliens Listen to the Sirens, Desire, Friends, Replicas, Scar, Do You Need the Service ?, Bleed, Magic, The Dream Police, Deadliner, The Hunter, Stormtrooper in Drag, Mean Street, Love and Napalm 17 songs including 8 from Sacrifice (Omissions are Walk in Your Soul and Seed of a Lie) All are new for a live performance (I think), leaving Jo the Waiter Remind Me to Smile Are 'Friends' Electric ? I'm an Agent I Die:You Die Every Day I Die Noise Noise that have been on CD before. This would again be a nice set to have on disc. IT may happen too as Gary wants to put out a live album again before March but it could be the Isolate Tour which was put on the shelf. Besides listening to Gary Numan, I like King Crimson, Ultravox, John Foxx, Nektar, Mike Oldfield, Dead Can Dance, and David Bowie, among others. I'm not much of an instrumentalist, but I do some dabbling. I have guitars, bass, mandolin and an old Arp Odyssey (great for mimicking Numan's early stuff). This is all for composing rather than performing. I am free-lance video editor and also produce a program for a local TV station. Regards, \ Keith J. D. And the verdict? I won't go over every song, since thats been done, but I will say that this is the album that we've been waiting for. I love how it mixes his old and new sound. I'll write more after I've read other peoples reactions. Not that it will change my mind, it will just give me things to think about. He definately was thinking alot about religion lately. To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Does anyone know, or would anyone like to speculate what the meaning of the medical symbol is in the graphics for "Sacrifice"? Is it a reference to Gary's new found musical health? Is it a hope that this album is the prescription for critical acclaim? Does it have anything to do with "Bleed"? Is it a warning that wailing backing vox and guitars have been amputated? Other ideas and even real info would be appreciated. Now, there isn't much of a chance of my scraping together the money or time to go to England to see Gaza perform. How many of you are in the same boat? I have read several times about Gary's healthy cult following in the US. If he truly has one, why haven't we been blessed with even a token club tour? I understand that there isn't a HUGE profit in this for him, perhaps he even stands to lose some money. I feel, however, that we deserve something for supporting his high price hobbies. I have purchased every single release that I have been able to get my hands on for the past twelve years. There are probably quite a few of us around. I would travel half way across the US to see him play. I don't care if he doesn't play in a large venue with a massive light show. I love the music and I want to see it performed by the man who created it! For those of you who likewise desire this, let your voices be heard! Those of you who keep tabs on this newsletter: Please pass the word along to Beryl. If you live in North America and want to hear Gary play live sometime before he dies or we do send me some E-mail. I would like to get together a list of names of all those who would be willing to travel somewhere in North America to see GAry play. If you have friends who would definitely go, send their names too. Let's get something going! I know there hasn't been great response to get Berserker reprinted, but I believe this to be a little more exciting prospect, don't you? -={Maker...we are disciples to your desire}=- luket@yvax.byu.edu ------------------------------ End of Gary Numan Digest ******************************
