The majority of my favorites are pre-Bezerker tracks. On a different note: I was flipping through cable late one night when I heard GN's New Anger in some film....I don't recall the films name (as it was very late)...but I do remember Judd Nelson in the movie (I think he was the owner of the club that was playing the song). I also remember hearing "Devious" in a movie (I think it was "Ski School"), which brings me to my question.....How many other movies has GNs songs been in? What movies are they? ######### " <> <> " <" ^ "> " <> " are friends electric? _____________ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Dec 1994 01:29:07 -0700 (MST) From: LUKET@yvax.byu.edu Subject: in concert To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Greetings, Well, my last mailing hailed such a great response ( ha! ha! ) that I thought I'd give it another go with another idea. Would anyone be interested in getting a group of people together to go see Numan play in London next fall? For those of you who live out west (US), perhaps if we could get a large enough group to go, we could work out some deal with a travel agency for a low fare far in advance. Perhaps we could also work out tickets for a show far in advance to?!? If anyone is interested in this idea, please, please, PLEASE let me know!!!!! -{Is this desire...or a disease?}- Trevor luket@yvax.byu.edu ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 6 Dec 1994 10:52:38 +0100 From: lssmith@genvax.glam.ac.uk (LEON SMITH:GLAMORGAN UNI.) Subject: Live LP and Unplugged To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Hello (again). Thought I'd just let you know that I've just spoken to a friend who saw the first three nights of the Sacrifice Tour and informs me that in addition to the songs performed at Hammersmith, Moral, This is my House and War Songs were played (as was Cars). So Guildford should be worth getting on a bootleg if anyone sees it. Apparently Hammersmith was definitely recorded (this was on the Numan phone line) and is to be released in the new year. As is the long-awaited ballad album and an "unplugged" album (suggested by Ade Orange during the tour). Hope the info's of interest. Leon Smith. Learning Resources Centre. I've been a Numan fan since the Replicas album. I did take some time off during the New Anger and Outland albums. I got a little tired of his hostility. His current album doesn't seem so hostile, however... possibly he needs to speak to a clergyman, or maybe just a disinterested third party who could give him an unbiased opinion. It does sound as if he still hasn't found the love of his life, which is unpleasant, however, that aspect of his life does inspire his best songs. "You Walk in my Soul" is a great song (although it does sound like he has found someone, but by the end of the album, that has crashed into flames.) I heard somewhere that he is a flight instructor, true?? And in reply to LUKET@yvax.by.edu- YES! Let's get this man over here for a performance! I have yet to see him in concert. What would be a good location for everyone? I'm not very fond of New York, any other suggestions??? Subject: Numan live, etc. To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Hello everyone. I was interested to read the comments about a possible release of a live lp from the Isolate Tour, a fairly uninspiring tour to say the least. Hopefully it will be from the Hammersmith show of the Sacrifice tour, but we'll have to wait and see. However I think some of the tracks listed as being new to live performance have been done before in the dim and distant past. Replicas was performed on the US leg of the Touring Principle '79/'80 (only available on bootleg as far as I know), Praying to the Aliens on the European leg of the same tour (also only on bootleg). The Dream Police however is on Living Ornaments 79 (with excellent violin by Billy Currie), and I DReam of Wires was performed on Telekon '80 tour and the three nights at Wembley, which means its available on the Micromusic video of the last night at Wembley. If its of any interest, the live videos available in the UK are :- Dream Corrosion (live 1993) Berserker Live (live 1984) Micromusic (Live 1981) The Touring Principle (Live 1979) The Skin Mechanic (Live 1989) Some good theories about the use of the medical symbol on Sacrifice, I'd like to think its a tribute to Star Fleet medical corps, however I think its a bit# of a blatant attempt to "emulate" the Sisters of Mercy (GAry's favourite band at the moment), and generally cultivate a more gothic image. If the Numanoids stateside want Gary to tour, I can only suggest writing to the fan club address and asking Gary to gauge the response for himself. The address is :- Gary NUman Fan Club, P.O. Box 14, Staines, Middlesex. UK. And finally, you'll be relieved to hear, Beserker has been available on CD through the fan club for some time, it has the extended mixes of each of the songs on, which was only released on cassette back in 1984. Once again, try the above address. See you. Leon Smith. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 04 Dec 1994 12:09:56 -0700 (PDT) From: Claudia Whitworth Subject: Personal info To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Hi there, I'm 28 and first started listening to Gary's stuff since he released "Cars". I have most of his early British singles, up to and including those of the Telekon album. (BTW, I would love to track down a copy of the picture disc for "Down in the Park" -- any hints how I can go about finding it?) Although I bought some of his albums after Telekon, as well as his Living Ornaments CD, I haven't really heard any of his recent stuff. Some of my favourite LPs/CDs include Lone Justice/Maria McKee, Hunters & Collectors, Crowded House, Blue Rodeo, Abba, the BeeGees, Joan Armatrading, DOA, the Payola$. My tastes are either eclectic or indiscriminate, you decide. I'm a student 'til the end of December. Once I get my degree, I'm off to Tokyo. I'm hoping to find computer-related work -- that's my field -- but my main goal is to have fun, make some money, and do some serious globetrotting. Cheers!
