Need to contact Steve Webb (UK) Question for Gary Some Numan stuff for sale Strange and expensive idea The Definitive Poll - update 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: 14 Oct 95 07:10:28 EDT From: Subject: Cheltenham Disco Report To: The third Cheltenham Disco took place on Friday 13 of October. The organiser thought that this would be a good day to have it (mystery, superstition etc.) Unfortunately, things did not quite go to plan. The Numan cover band GN2 were supposed to be playing. Unfortunately, the hall's management committee found out and banned them. The band were only told that morning that it would not be worth making the trip. Singer Martin Gavard still came down to see what sort of event it was. The Roboscan lights (like Numan's) also broke down in the afternoon and the organiser had to rush over to Leicester to get them fixed. Unfortunately, they could not be repaired. Apart from all this, the disco got underway at 19:30. The lights went down, Mission started up and the disco lights cut in. It was then on to Machine and Soul, Outland, Scar, A Question of Faith and as many other Numan classics that could be packed into four and a half hours. The dance floor was full for much of the time - especially when From Russia Infected, Soul Protection, Love and Napalm and Machine and Soul were on!!!!! The lights and PA were fantastic and my only regret was that Crash was not played. The Disco moves to London in February and then back to Cheltenham in June. Other Numan discos are being held at Bolton, Liverpool, Middlesbrough and Folkestone. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Matthew Holbrook http://www.county.net/machman/numan.html machman@county.net ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Oct 1995 21:08:04 +0000 From: "iwisman" Subject: Gary's replies and other stuff To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Greetings: Again Gary has answered all questions put to him. Gary is something else! Thanks again Gary, Thanks again Derek!! I also buy everything Numan I can get my hands on. For two good reasons: one I am a Fan, and two you only get one chance! Today I am still trying to find some 12 inch vinyl from the Outland Days. I was listening to "Machine and Soul" recently and thought Gary's cover of Prince's "U-Got the Look" was totally unlike him. I would rather a cover of John Foxx's "Underpass." Now that would be something. I've lived in various locations around the U.K., but currently reside in Bewdley, Worcestershie. I became a Gary Numan follower of 16 years of age in 1979, with the release of 'Are 'Friends' Electric. I have been to at least one date of each tour since the Teletour 80. (I missed 'The Touring Principle 79, and have regretted it ever since! My dream lies with Beggars releasing the FULL Hammersmith gig on CD, and a 'clean' video without the late 70's effects. I have a full collection of picture discs etc. but I'm now only interested in CD due to the quality of sound. I must confess to forgetting more about Numan than I ever knew due to the 'wilderness years' (1986 to 1993) as Gary lost direction and I started a family, I bought the records and saw the shows more out of habit. Sacrifice, and at last finding an internet site has put me back almost to my enthusiasm of the early 80's, apart from I now have more money, 2 children a mortgage and a bigger belly. I look forward to joining the Web Webb. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Oct 1995 01:29:27 -0400 From: GYMnIF@aol.com Subject: More Records For Sale!! To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Hello! Paiement" Subject: Need to contact Steve Webb (UK) To: numan@cs.uwp.edu (Gary Numan) Can anyone help me? Over the last few years, I have been trading Numan records with Steve Webb, from Amersham, Bucks (UK). I've had no news or response from him for almost one year, and he owes me. If anyone on this Digest knows Steve and can get in touch with him, I would appreciate hearing from you. Please e-mail me directly (no use in bothering the whole Digest with this) at richard.paiement@crc.doc.ca Thanks, ************************************************************** Richard V. This is what makes the Numan digest the best I subscribe to. Here's the question. Question 1: Hello, Gary! I'm one of your US fans who's planning a trip across the pond to see you on your 1996 tour next spring. I was wondering if you might considering offering for sale, at the concert souvenir tables, some of the fan club CDs, such as Radial Pair and the Babylon series, as they're pretty damn hard to come by over here. If any copies are left over by April, you can be sure I'll pick them up. And of course I'll look forward to meeting you at the post-gig hotel party. Question 2: Not so much a question as a comment, or a piece of information. A few weeks ago you said selecting a set list was tough because you often didn't really know what fans wanted to hear. It so happens I conducted a poll on this digest a few months back, and here are the 4 most popular song choices submitted by folks on the net: Crash; Telekon; The Aircrash Bureau; The Joy Circuit. "Face to Face" is listed twice - once with I,ASSASSIN, and once with WARRIORS. OBVIOUSLY the I,ASSASSIN listing is a mistake. I don't know HOW it got there!! So, please try to remember to use the listing under WARRIORS, but I WILL double check people's forms just in case (I was hoping to avoid having to do this - with the size and all). And just to let you know on progress - I have had a couple of people submit votes already, but MOST are yet to show up. So, UNLESS a lot of them come in all of a sudden - then this'll be going a while yet. I'll take this as a sign that most people are filling in the form extensively, rather than people putting it off, and submitting a short vote in a rush at the end. Just a reminder (while I'm here) that if you HAVEN'T notified me that you are taking part - and I get all the votes in from the people who HAVE - then you WILL miss out. I am only keeping polling open until I get votes from all who have indicated their intentions. DONALD PEDDER. "I can see in your eyes, you're not so sure about me.
