Can't wait for the re-release (only a few more days!) Believe it or not, I have never heard ANY of the songs from the album, except The Hunter which appears on DC Live. I've just recently acquired DC and DL CDs (about 3 months ago). I'm not normally a fan of live albums, but these were an exception (they were Numan). I was pleasantly surprised! I get so jealous of all the fans in the UK who say "I only saw one show from EACH TOUR"! Really looking forward to seeing some tour videos. I didn't even know they existed until I started reading the digest. Does anyone know if the videos soon to be available on NuWorld will also be available in the NTSC format for us Americans, it doesn't really specify. Also, does anyone else have a hard time reading the small font print in red? The other colors are okay, and the larger fonts are fine in red, but the small red print is hard to make out. Has this come up before? Has everyone heard the NuWorld clips from Dark and Prophecy? Boy, Gary wasn't kidding when he said Exile would be even darker and heavier than Sacrifice. I like the new sound. Now I'm really looking forward to its release!. One of the many great things about this digest is that we are all numanoids and we all understand what we're here for. CHILL people! It is sad if we can't at least be nice to each other. -Jorja Fullerton / Philadelphia (USA) -"some people need the heroes" ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 01 Dec 95 21:50:08 0500 From: Trena Brantley Subject: New Member Intro To: numan@cs.uwp.edu I guess it's time I introduced myself to the group. I'm a 29 year-old Editor/Writer, and I've been listening to and collecting Gary Numan material since 1979. I believe "Down in the Park" was the first song I ever heard, and the first album by Gary I ever purchased was Replicas. It's so hard to pick favorite Numan songs (there are so many to choose from), but I fell in love with Replicas, Dance, Warriors (most of it), Berserker, The Fury, and Sacrifice on first listen. In fact, I enjoy listening to all Numan lps with the exception of Machine and Soul. I'm still trying to get that one to grow on me (I do like the title track, esp. the extended version). Other favorite artists include David Sylvian/Japan/related artists, Peter Murphy, China Crisis, Icehouse, Killing Joke, Talk Talk, Ultravox, Depeche Mode, Peter Gabriel, etc. I live in North Carolina and although Numan material is nearly impossible to find here, I know there are quite a few Numan fans around this area lots of our friends, that is. We either invigorated and/or tortured these poor souls with endless hours of Numan music. When we lived at home, my brother and I used to have small Numan "discos" of our own. We'd invite some friends and turn up my dad's system. My dad was in a local band (gasp!) for about 4 years or so, and his 8-track recording system was in a building (a.k.a. renovated barn) behind our house. We often had neighbors (who lived down the road) call around 2 or 3 a.m. to ask if we were playing loud music. Amazing how sound can carry out in the country in the middle of nowhere. I used to play the piano and keyboards. We had several nice Rolands and Casios (well, OK) for a while , and when I was 16/17, I was in a band. We played all Devo covers. We even won a local talent competition, though no one had a clue as to what we were playing. Frightening times. I'd like to say that I think Matthew doing a great job with the NU-Zone and the World Wide Webb is really shaping up nicely-I love the addition of lyrics, and I've tried to read the back catalog of all the digests. Sometimes Gary is awfully hard to translate-I've always marveled at how he has the unique ability to put "n"s at the beginning of words which contained no "n"s at all. I'm also ecstatic about NuWorld and the upcoming ability to become a member of the GN fan club and buy more stuff. There goes my budget. I've only had access to the net and e-mail for about 3 months now (my access is at work, unfortunately), and I'm extremely excited to find other dedicated fans out there who are willing to put such time and effort into supporting Gary and his music. I've spent soooo much money on collecting Numan stuff over the past 15 years or so that I often joke with my friend, Andrew, who owns a record store in Rochester, New York, that I feel like I'm paying Gary's bills before my own. I think I've said enough for now. I agree. I don't know a great deal about O'Hearn except that his stuff is difficult to come by in the UK (look under New Age). All the albums I have I bought in the U.S. They are "Eldorado", "Rivers Gonna Rise", "Indigo" and "Between Two Worlds". I started off with "Eldorado" which was recommended by a member of the excellent 'Men About Town' from Dallas. Steve's right. With O'Hearn you get lots of droning synth, fretless bass lines and stunning melodies. Do check him out. Anybody know if there are more albums available other than the one's I've listed ? Later, Sean. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ email :- 100557.3713@compuserve.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Nov 1995 08:45:43 -0500 (EST) From: Room 237 Subject: Numan video To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Greetings, I'm looking for the New Man Numan video compilation in NTSC format and any other videotapes.
