Well, by the time you're reading this it will be just a few short (well long) hours until Garys first show of the tour. Can't wait myself. It's good to see people coming from far afield to enjoy the shows - where do you guys get your money from!!! Anyway, I saw Ski School leaping out at me in the video shop on Saturday. I was tempted to rent it (nothing to do with the gratuitous topless scenes you understand), but didn't bother in the end. The people I was with would just have used it as slander fodder anyway! Maybe next time... ;-) I have to agree with Phil Lindasy about Garys TOTP appearance. He did look great which everyone has commented about here (except one spawn of satan), but everyone also said he sounded rather bad, couldn't sing, was out of tune, blah blah.......Such a shame seeing as it was such a high profile spot. Sometimes there's just nothing you can say to convince people, but at least we all know the truth! See you all on tour! Cheers - Matthew ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Mar 96 22:51:07 +0100 From: na468@fim.uni-erlangen.de (Markus Dietrich) Subject: MTV skips Gary chart placement To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Hello altogther, I am very frustrated in the moment! One hour before I want to record the video clib from Cars out of MTVs UK hit list. They began at a place about 35. Many Songs that far from the top ten are played in the full length. Then sometimes a couple of 6 songs were played in a compressed manner. BUT THE UNBELIEVABLE => they merely jumped from place 20 to 17 (without any visualising), and so skipped gary place 19!!! I take dynamite with me when travelling to london, and I will blast MTV away!!! Does anyone other feel like me?!? Please tell me(or the digest), if MTV also omitted playing Cars the week before (when it was on rank 17)! You Brits. Or am I absolutly wrong, and there is no video clib available for the Cars Premier Mix ?!? Sorry, I must cry out ... To: warn-people@fictional.net There is currently a proposal for the newsgroup rec.music.white-power, an attempt by neo-nazi racists to legitimize their activities. It is now in the CFV stage, where anyone with a valid e-mail address may vote. "White power" racist music is not a legitimate form of music deserving of a separate rec.music newsgroup, but rather a political group masquerading as a musical one. And, the rec.* hierarchy is inappropriate because rec.* is for recreational activities, and racism is anything but recreational. But, most importantly, we must show the racists that they will not be granted a mainstream forum in order to promote hate. If you don't want a Usenet where minorities feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, vote NO on rec.music.white-power. Let's make this a crushing defeat for racists. To vote, send e-mail to music-vote@sub-rosa.com and put I vote NO on rec.music.white-power in the body of the message. The actual CFV can be found on news.announce.newsgroups, or by sending a blank e-mail to music-cfv@sub-rosa.com. Voting ends 23:59:59 UTC, 18 Mar 1996, so act quickly! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Mar 1996 15:44:32 -0600 (CST) From: MACHMAN@cqm.co.uk (J HENDRY) Subject: Re cHARTS To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Brilliant to see Gary back in the Top 20 for 2 weeks. Its not surprising Cars went down 2 places though. Radio One are just not playing it. If you send an e-mail from this site ,do it anonymously, ie not as a Numan fan as I believe the Numan day of action some years ago just made things worse. The film, which was played in >movie theaters at the time and later turned up on cable TV, had a futuristic, >urban setting and was realistically animated (not cartoonish). I also think the >characters were in a punk band. I can't remember the name though.... I believe you're thinking of the film Times Square (1980). It wasn't animated, though. It starred Tim Curry and, apart from Down In The Park, had a lot of late 70's/new wave artists like the Ramones and Patti Smith in it. A decent double-album soundtrack.
