I will be incorporating quite a few updates including some from Robert Bush and others that I've accumulated since the May 3, 1996 release. Could someone please send me the discography information on the Babylon series and Radial Pair Soundtrack so I can include that information as well? Track names, track times (if available), catalog number, and when it came out is the information I'm looking for. Many people have asked about this information so I figure it's time to put it into the discography officially. For those of you who might not know about the wealth of informaion in the Gary Numan discography, it was origianlly created by Dave Datta and some others and resides at the University of Wisconsin, Parkside site and is also available online via Joey Lindstrom's Aircrash Bureau website. I'll let everyone know when the August release is available. (News date: Jul 26) Just wanted to apologise for the lack of information over the last few weeks. In the first place not a huge amount is going on as I'm just working hard to finsih 'Exile'. Secondly, and far more importantly, it's been a very grim time on the home front which has been demoralising to say the least. A few weeks ago my Grandfather died after a long fight against the reaper. He was without doubt the gentlest man that I have ever known and I will miss him all my life. Not only that but also, a couple of weeks ago, two display pilots were killed in seperate accidents. One of the pilots, 'Hoof' Proudfoot, was a good friend of mine and my brothers and had played a key part in our progress through the demanding and sometimes dangerous world of display flying. 'Hoof' was the man responsible for all of my early training in low level display aerobatics and was an incredibly gifted pilot as well as the most entertaining, decent and charming man. It was a horrific accident, in a World War 2 fighter aeroplane, and it has sent shock waves rumbling throughout the world display scene. Another friend of mine was killed in a crash at a display earlier this year. To add even more horror to all this yet another display pilot, plus his navigator, were killed only last weekend when their historic aeroplane crashed at a display near Manchester. This makes eight people, four of whom were good friends, killed in plane crashes in the last 12 months either at a display or practising for one. The total is well over 30 since I first became involved. What used to be fun and exciting is now becoming something else, something sad and depressing. I no longer have a single group photograph of my flying friends where all the people pictured are still alive. This is the reason why I've been a bit quiet on the news front for a while, I've been doing a lot of thinking. Hopefully the other Numan sites have kept you up to date and interested. ----- This year is turning out to be a one of extreme highs and lows for Gary. A few subscribers have mentioned they would like Gary to know they are thinking of him at this griefstricken time. I'll forward an email, again expressing our sorrow for him and maybe even mail a card so he knows that it's not just a trivial sentiment whipped out on email. Personal email messages can be sent to Gary via Tony at tonywebb@numan.co.uk Cards should go via the Fan Club address: Gary Numan P.O. To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Here is another in a long list of pathetic displays of ignorance by the music press. VH-1 (U.S. at least) is airing a commercial for a "Big '80s" compilation cd. During the commercial, they display clips of the videos to the songs that appear on the cd. Well, you guessed it. Not once, but TWICE do they show a snippet of the "Cars" video with the caption "GARY NEWMAN" proudly emblazoned on the screen. What kind of research do these people do? Whatever happened to fact checkers and proofreaders? I give up.
