I tend to agree with Erin in the fact that with Gary's last response to the questions we sent asked him, it was quite amusing. The answers that were the most amusing were the ones to the questions that were non-music related. We tend to see Gary as this mystical and complex person, but in reality over the past decade, he has tenderized his personality a bit. I'd like to see Gary on the lighter side. Most people are asking the same boring questions that were posed to him from previous issues of the Digest. Besides, how can we really get to know Gary if we don't know "The Other Side of Gary Numan"? And to correct Robert Trousdale on the Merv Griffin appearance which Gary Numan did White Boys & Heroes, and Cars, it was broadcast, not two months, but two weeks before the release of the I,Assassin. I know this as a fact because I was at the I,Assassin concert in Pasadena (a suburb of East Los Angeles.) The Merv Griffin show was broadcast from the Burbank Studios the West side of L.A. and the concert was two weeks after the broadcast. I, Assassin, was released, stateside, I believe the week before the concert. Enough said.... ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 May 1996 10:46:25 +0100 From: stefano@hynet.it (Stefano Meneghetti) Subject: Gary Numan Digest V1 #265 To: numan@cs.uwp.edu (Gary Numan) Does someone out there knows about ex Ultravox members. To: numan@cs.uwp.edu I was amused to read the post in the last digest about the Yes song "Man in a White Car" being about Gary, and how the poster felt that having Yes do a song about Gary was a major compliment. Now, I happen to love Yes but check the "White Car" lyrics again: "Take all your dreams/And you throw them away". Doesn't sound too complimentary to me. Just an observation. We are Jane and Lee from Kent, England and have been ardent fans of Gary's since 1979. We actually met this year at the Premier Tour. He spotted me at Guildford (4th April) and understandably thought I was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen (well thats how I tell it), but he didn't speak to me. Then we both went to Hammersmith (7th April) and amazingly arrived within minutes of each other and this time he spoke to me and I hate to say it but he swept me off my feet. So we have now been together for 6 months and are getting married on the 7th July next year in Mexico. Are there any Numan fans in Mexico? Just hope Gary doesn't decide to tour in July. So without Gary we probably would never have met as we lived over 30 miles apart, so he is now more important in our lives than ever (if that's possible). Anyway that's probably bored you all to death so bye for now. Jane & Lee. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Sep 1996 09:47:41 +0100 From: James Sabin Subject: Numan Covers To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Hi Does anyone have full list of all Numan covers to date ?? Hmmmmm....a lot more complimentary than Money For Nothing by (Really) Dire Straits in which Mark Knopfler warbles throatily: "See the little faggot with the earing and the make-up Yeah bother, that's his own hair That little faggot got his own jet airplane That little faggot he's a millionaire" Thanks Mr Knopfler!! :) Matthew. ------------------------------ End of Gary Numan Digest ******************************
