You need to send the CD (no jewel case or artwork) to PDO UK and ask for a replacement. Wrap the CD in tissue or similar material, place between two pieces of card and place in a padded envelope. Add a letter saying you worry your CD is 'bronzing' and have heard PDO are replacing bronzing CDs. Send it to: Helpline Attn Pat Burns PDO Discs Ltd (UK) Philips Road Blackburn Lancashire, BB1 5RZ England UK They return discs via airmail, ususally within two weeks if the CD is in stock. M&S had to be repressed. I waited for several months but you should get yours quickly. Note, bronzing is not the pale gold colour on PDO UK CDs. That is normal. Bronzing is a dark orange (i.e. bronze, coour that bleeds in from the inner and outer edges of the CD on the label side only. It apparently can result in unplayability in years to come. These CDs were pressed in 1992 using a different process than before and after and at the time problems were not expected to occur. PDO have been extremely responsive to the problem. Other Numan CDs that are susceptible are: Isolate Ghost Other CDs I have had exchanged: Soft Cell - Art of Falling Apart - Last Night in Sodom - Non Stop Ecstatic Dancing Ultravox - BBC Radio 1 Live in Concert Claudia Brucken - Love: and Million Other Things The Cure - Wish China Crisis - Flaunt the Imperfection and several others The new PDO CDs are not pale gold in colour anymore. Make sure you only send PDO CDs back. They usually have "Made in UK by PDO" written on the inner rim. To: numan@cs.uwp.edu In Digest 269 Ruthi "a not so usual joisey girl" expressed absolute horror at my previous post which described Sting's initial reaction to Gary Numan. In June 1994, Gary recounted to the UK's "Melody Maker" (coincidently during yet another "My Top 10" interview) a tale of further hostility. Gary: "Did you know, Elvis Costello's manager hit the man who signed me. For signing me!! Now that is very unnecessary. Like *you're* so great, Elvis." Poor old Gaz. I bet nobody's ever slapped the man who signed Peter Andre! BTW, neither HMV or Virgin had any Dire Straits books at all, so no news to report. However, I did discover that HMV are selling the recently released Receiver CD "The Best of Gary Numan 1984 - 1992" for a mere =A33.49! (or= was it =A33.79?). Yes - THREE pounds 49p. It isn't even in their sale!
