Jeff Tolva (The Machman) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Dec 96 20:30:40 From: "Joey Lindstrom" Subject: GOTWFC: The Scoop To: "Gary Numan" On Thu, 26 Dec 96 01:00:02 CST, Lisa: >I've heard from somebody very recently, and it sounds like NEC is winding >down. There are *two* copies of the tape left, and he's sending them to >me. If Omenrose would like to send me e-mail, I'd be happy to send one >of them to hir. Funny - I got a similar letter from Mike Ditmore at NEC. Let's compare notes in a couple of weeks and see which of us gets the tapes. :-) IN THE MEANTIME, EVERYBODY: I've been negotiating with Mike via email in regards to getting another pressing of this tape made. Minimum order is 100 copies, and while we haven't been able to come up with definitive numbers, it looks very much like this is something I'll be able to pull off, to the point where I'll be able to stock them, then sell them via the Digest and my web site, all at a price comparable to the current list price (whatever that is, a low price anyways). We're also looking into the possibility of switching this pressing to compact disc. This is much more difficult, mainly because the minimum order from the pressing plant would seem to be 500 copies, and I don't have that kind of money. Basically I've gotta assume all the risk here (unless you want to send in your money in advance, heh heh) so I gotta make sure I'm not going to take too large of a bath on this. :-) Wet feet I don't mind, but drowning.... that I mind. I must confess that I'm somewhat concerned about a couple of things, though... 1) People have been promised tapes and haven't received them. Some people (Lisa and myself) have been promised the SAME tapes. 2) In my case, my money order was never received by NEC (or so it is claimed), but they'd send me the tapes anyways as a goodwill gesture. I'm not saying there's a con at work... Mike tells me he's just a musician and knows dick about accounting and handling things like mail orders, so it could be just a simple matter of a guy trying hard to do a job he never asked for. But either way, I'm going to be tres cautious about this. Jeff Tolva mentioned in an earlier Digest that he was willing to make dupes of his tape, given that these tapes would soon be unavailable, presumably forever. We've been in communication since then and now that he's aware that this likely will NOT be the case, his offer is conditionally withdrawn: conditionally, that is, on whether or not I'm able to pull this off. :-) I'll tell you right now that if I'm able to do this, my intention is to handle this the way the T-shirts were handled: get it done for as low as cost as possible, then pass along those savings to you. I'm not in this to earn a profit, and I think you'll see that if/when you see the asking price on the tapes. :-) Or CD's, whatever. If this doesn't come off... well, Jeff is saving the email addresses of those that have already responded to his offer. If you're one of 'em, you just might get some email.... :-) /--------------------------------------------------------- / Joey Lindstrom numanoid@netway.ab.ca lindstrj@cadvision.com / http://www.netway.ab.ca/worldwidewebb/ / "There's a reason 'Wheel Of Fortune' is on right after 'Jeopardy'. The catalog number is BEGA 155CD. This is NOT from the 2 on 1 series that Beggars released in 1987. This is from the compliation listed in Beggars 1993 (2 CD Set) release called "The Best Of Gary Numan 1978 - 1983" with the purple cover. I'd like to know if this series (2 CD Sets) was deleted some time ago, but specifically if anyone knows where I can obtain the "Living Ornaments '79 & '80" (2 CD Set) catlg# BEGA 155CD. Many thanks! The Machman P.S. Someone should really update the discography with the 2 on 1 series (1987) and the 2 CD set series (1993). As a matter of fact, I don't beleive the discography has the Asylum series (1990) tracks listed correctly either.
