First I would like to say "Thank you", for all of those who showed interest in the Radioheart CD. Some of you (well two actually) got lucky, and some didnt. But if you didnt, Ive still got your e-mail adresses so if I somehow find more copies.... Well you get the point. Anyway the reason for writing is that Matthew Roberts wrote: < but I think the strangest record I have < is a copy of White Noise from Finland (released on the Polarvox label for any < sceptics). Well Mr Roberts, youre absolutely right. Infact the entire Berserker/White Noise collection ( 7", 12", Lp, DLp )was released and made in Finland. I know cause Ive got them. (Yes they are, if someones interested) But just out of curiosity, Mr Roberts, where did you get yours ? Oh yes, having just been in L.A. I must say it is not the right place on earth to buy Numan CDs although there were more titles than here in Sweden. Well thats all for this time, and once again thanks to those who know who they are. Uffe ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Jan 97 18:43:40 From: "Joey Lindstrom" Subject: A Contest - With Actual Prizes! To: "numan@cs.uwp.edu" The prize: one of four copies of "Ghost Of The White Face Clown", the Gary Numan tribute tape, courtesy of Mike Ditmore & the Northwest Elektro-Industrial Coalition. This tape features ten bands covering nine Numan songs. All the details, along with sound clips from all ten songs, are available on The World Wide Webb (http://www.netway.ab.ca/worldwidewebb) on the "We Have A Technical" page, but for those of you without web access... well, it wouldn't be fair to leave you out in the cold. :-) In order to qualify to win, you gotta get past the "skill-testing question" part of the contest. Anyone who reads the Numan Fan Club newsletters will recognize the format instantly (hey, I was having a rough day and couldn't come up with anything better): below you will see ten lyrical phrases from various Numan songs. You have to, quite simply, fill in the blanks. Here they are: 1) Ghost Of The ___ ___ ___ 2) ___ ___ ___ We Breathe For You 3) ___ ___ ___ It's Not Fun At All 4) It Keeps Me Stable ___ ___ 5) I Burned My Dream, ___ ___ ___, Nobody Knew 6) I See A Policeman ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ 7) Sometimes I Swear ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ 8) ___ ___ Love In A Dying Machine 9) How I Survived ___ ___ ___ 10) Drop Him Cold ___ ___ ___ ___ As you can see, some are easy, some are hard. All you've got to do is fill in the blanks and send your entry to numanoid@netway.ab.ca. A random drawing from all correct entries (meaning you got all ten of them correct) will be made on March 1st 1997 and the winner will receive a free copy of this tape mailed to their door (so make sure you also send along your mailing address!). Then we'll repeat the contest three more times (using three different lyrics quizzes) over three subsequent months until all the tapes are given away. You can enter as often as you like, but: 1) During any given month, only one CORRECT entry blank will be accepted per person (you'll be told if your entry has any errors and you are welcome to resubmit until you get 'em all right) 2) You cannot more than one tape. The whole point is to distribute them. :-) Hope you have some fun with it! /--------------------------------------------------------- / Joey Lindstrom numanoid@netway.ab.ca lindstrj@cadvision.com / http://www.netway.ab.ca/worldwidewebb/ / "There's a reason 'Wheel Of Fortune' is on right after 'Jeopardy'. Shame cos it looked pretty good in Exhibition. Latest on the (auto)biography front is that Gary is gonna co-write a 100,000 word one with someone else, I forget who. (Hmmmm - I seem to forget a lot of things!!). It's gonna take a while to write obviously but should be worth the wait if it contains anything as interesting as Images. In the meantime may I suggest you buy the Duran Duran video 'Decade' which has the marvellous video to Girls On Film!! :) Matthew ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Sep 1996 15:16:38 +0000 From: ash@enterprise.net Subject: Decade To: numan@cs.uwp.edu >From Julian Ashcroft in the Isle of Man Does 'Decade' the book really exist? When it was first meant't to come out to celebrate gary's 10 years in the music business, I tried every Bookshop I could find, but none of them had it, had heard of it, or would try and order it. I understand that only about a 1000 or so we published. I maybe wrong. I do hear that Virgin are going to publish an biography on Numan in the next year or so - should be interesting. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Jan 1997 17:16:41 -0500 (EST) From: Andyscobra@aol.com Subject: Gary Numan To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Hi i would like to hear from anyone who has been into Numan from day one and who is also into world war 2 aircraft(not esential) This is my 1st day on the net so if i have made a cock up my address is andyscobra@aol.com (Andy) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Jan 1997 17:08:00 -0500 From: "Dobson, Larry" Subject: Gary Numan Digest V1 #299 To: Gary Numan To; Gary Numan Digest Digest number 299 had a request for the Gary Numan biography "Decade". I was hoping that you may be able to answer another question: I have a green vinyl pressing of Telekon(Holland LP). How many were made and what would you say it is worth? Also, a red vinyl pressing of I Die:You Die/This Wreckage an Orange vinly pressing(promo) of Cars Yes! I still am quite obsessed with vinyl oddities in this world of CD technology! I've got some more but I don't want to inundate you with trivial waxes. Thanks!! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Jan 97 18:33:38 From: "Joey Lindstrom" Subject: Happy 300th! I am 30 yrs old, and became a Numan fan in 1984 at the age of 17 when, on a trip to Honolulu, HI, I found a cutout (on ATCO) cassette of The Pleasure Principle. I had always liked "Cars" from the radio, so I bought it. It couldn't have been more than $2.00. But it was incredible. I guess we choose music that mirrors our emotional state at the time. Well, Gary's music fit me perfectly. I had just graduated from high school, all my friends had left for college, while I stayed home and got a job. The second album I found (also on cutout cassette) was the Tubeway Army. I was impressed at the nice meshing of punk with synths. It was cold and angry in a far different way from the punk bands that I was familiar with. Anyway, long story short: I kept finding these cutout cassettes, one by one, until I had everything (up to Dance) and then I kept going. Gary's music helped me get through a difficult year. The albums that mean the most to me now are Warriors, Dance, Replicas, TPP, and Telekon. I gave up on him after Outland. That is, until recently, when I stumbled upon all sorts of Numan web sites on the internet. It resparked my interest in Gary--especially when I found out that The Fury and Strange Charm were to be re-released!! I spent a good deal of time in college trying to track down a CD of The Fury. with no luck. Gary's music is nowhere to be found in this lonely industrial town of Syracuse, NY. However, my wife, daughter, and I are taking a trip to Washington DC next month and I would love to buy The Fury and Sacrifice (is it REALLY as good as everyone says it is??? Gary is back???) on CD while I am there. If someone can give me some good recommendations for record stores in the Washington DC area that stock Gary's imports, I would be most appreciative. We will be staying in Maryland, and I have to go to Virginia, too, so any store in that huge metro area is fine. Finally, I am addicted to live music. I have a Gary Numan radio concert from 1980 (Santa Monica) that I would love to trade for other noteworthy Gazza shows. If you are also addicted to tape trading, please get in touch. Hi, Wonder if you can help. Myself and a good friend are organising a Gary Numan Disco for March 15th 1997. We are obviously looking for as much publicity as possible in order to promote the event. It is a non-profit disco with admission fees being charged to cover the cost of equipment and hire of the room, surplus to be given to an as yet undecided charity (Any Suggestions?) This will be the second Disco arranged by us so far withover 100 tickets sold for the first event. We do however need help getting the message across to fans of Gary that this event is happening with a good time guaranteed by all. The venue : Acton Court Hotel, Stockport, Manchester (England for our overseas readers) Time : 8.00 till 0100 Date 15th March 1997. Tickets : #3.00 each. Although the evening will primarily feature Gary's music, we will be playing music by other Artists as and when requested. Please help support this event by promoting it on your Website. Tickets and further details are available be retun EMAIL (Telekon@aol.com) or be phoning myself (Gary Pennill) on 0161-682-7754 or Ian McCauley on 0161-449-9776. Regards and best wishes Gary. Please note : The #3.00 admission fee does NOT include flights from the States...... ------------------------------ End of Gary Numan Digest ******************************
