Gary Numan Digest Sun, 23 Feb 97 Volume 1 : Issue 308 Today's Topics: Aerobics & Gary Numan Calling Richard Paiement CD Sightings Gary Numan Digest V1 #307 introduction MOVING ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Feb 97 16:09:13 UT From: "Jane Yorke" Subject: Aerobics & Gary Numan To: "Gary Numan" Hi all What can this connection be I here you ask, well let me first explain that I am an aerobics instructor and that we aerobic instructors have to buy special tapes to use because of the licences needed to play music to the public. Well on a couple of tapes with 80's music on Cars original version sung by Gary himself has cropped up...what a surprise they used Cars eh... but the latest Step tape (thats for Step Aerobics yeah) from Music Xpress (a company that makes cover versions not the original artists) has Are 'Friends' Electric? on it, shock horror couldnt believe it, had to send off for it straight away. Well I don't know who makes the cover versions, it never tells you that .....but I do have to say I am quite impressed with it...it is faster than the original (more of the tempo of the Techno Army version, but better) it is quite rocky and dancey at the same time, very motivational which is what us aerobic instructors require, if Gary had been doing the vocals it would be perfect. This is a brilliant way of getting the public hearing Gary's music, so I shall be playing this new tape til everyone is sick of it...just wish the people who make these tapes, including the ones who use the original artists, would use more of his stuff, cos I'd certainly buy their tapes. I've lost your e-mail address and was hoping you're still on the Gary Numan Digest. Hope you remember me too ;-) Jeff Tolva (The Machman) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Feb 1997 21:54:41 -0500 (EST) From: BDay0000@aol.com Subject: CD Sightings To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Hey!!!! I was in my local HMV Music Store last night and I noticed about a dozen (12) new Numan CDs. Sacrafice Extended and Dream Corrosion to mention the latest. Not a big deal, but, I found it very interesting to see such a large stock in the mall. Hope they sell. Yes, there was a green vinyl pressed - I have a copy (only one I'm afraid) It was the second pressing of 500 copies (compared to 1000 orange vinyl) - figures according to a very nice lady at Momentum Music. And both mixes are better than the 'Techno Army' mixes IMHO. Cheerio, Paul. ------------632E43F132E11 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii

Thanks for adding me to the list. My name is Boris, I'm 30 and since I bought the blue album back in 78 I'm addicted to Gary's Stuff. In 1989 I formed my own band - now called CREAM VIII, which seems to be quite successful in the german underground - please check out our homepage on http://members.aol.com/kremacht/cviii.html - you can even download pieces of our music there (we try to archieve some kind of mix between New Wave and the Sisters of Mercy) our 2nd CD will be published in April. To be honest, I lost interest in Gary's music completely after the Outland and the atrocious Machine&Soul but saw him return to fine form with sacrifice - I also write for a gothic/wave related magazine called Gothic Grimoire which has a distribution of about 10.000 - and we are currently looking to interview Gary for that one too. Otherwise I would like to gratulate the mentor for doing a nice job with this list. It is by far the best organized one I'm subscribed too? What else? I am about to move which means that a lot of old stuff has to be sold. So I offer to anyone who is interested (I'm a fan not a merchant) the following items: - White Light/White Heat Tubeway Army live 1977 Roxy 7" - Remember I was Vapour German 12" - Metal Rhythm CD - 2x Photograph German LP - Looots of other stuff, just contact me Like everybody else, I hope that Gary's return to fine form was not too late for others to recognize, let's hope the best - I would be glad about some personal contacts, comments etc. Boris ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Feb 1997 10:16:15 -0600 From: CARY WILTZ Subject: MOVING To: numan@cs.uwp.edu I am moving to the Charlotte, North Carolina area in March and was wondering if anyone knows of any semi-decent music stores/spots/clubs? Know of any place that might carry a Numan rarity or two? ------------------------------ End of Gary Numan Digest ******************************
