Gary Numan Digest Thu, 14 Aug 97 Volume 1 : Issue 355 Today's Topics: ADMINISTRIVIA Again? down this path madness lies, or just boredom. Fan meetup. gary numan Gary Numan Digest V1 #353 Serious!! thanks everyone ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Aug 1997 21:57:24 -0700 (PDT) From: Derek Langsford Subject: ADMINISTRIVIA To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Just to let you know that Dave and I are aware of the bounced Digests and that Dave is trying to fix the problem. So far he has not succeeded. Some of the bounces apparently arrive just before distribution which occurs at 1 a.m. central US time. We hope that this Digest will be problem free but please be patient if things aren't quite right. To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Gee, got the very large digest again with four copies of a week ago's digest..hmm.. Anyway, to Nick Foxx, let me say I very much liked the quote you used about educated people. Had to write that one down for future use! Looking at the digest from a 'third-person' type of look, I've watched and read every single arguement here about religion VS Gary Numan, or between us. Can I just say we all have our own beliefs, even some of the 'truest' catholics have had their differences. Nuns even question their faith at time, the Pope, well, he probably wouldn't read this digest, anyway. I would however like to compliment everyone who has had a view on this very touchy subject, as you all have shown class and respect toward each other by expressing your opinions. It shows me how different we can be, but at the same time, (remember this) if we all go to a Numan concert, we'll have the best time of our lives!! Is there any way we over here in the U.S. can dial up Gary's info-line? I would very much like to do this, but am not sure if our phone systems will accept it. I know Gary has mentioned that he would like to set up a 900# type service here, I sent a few sites to them, but basically any phone system will now have it available. He can rent or purchase the computer for the service, and at the end of the month, they'll send him his check! If anyone has any tips, let me know!! My love to you all, each and every one! Dave "Exile", a new website: no, I will not reveal the rest YET... soon, Marlene, soon!!! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Aug 1997 06:36:00 -0400 (EDT) From: SomaCrow@aol.com Subject: down this path madness lies, or just boredom. To: numan@cs.uwp.edu bon matin mes camarades! twice a week, i creep stealthily to my computer in the middle of the night (here's to pacific standard time) to see if my Digest has come yet. obviously then, i enjoy it, i anticipate its arrival. and thus this moronic note: it's really not necessary to reproduce an issue twice over again in the Digest when back issues are put online within a decent period of time anyway. end snipe. okie. <> david, thanks for complimenting my site (anyone else? j/k). i don't object to thanks, mais non, but i do think miss marlene and co., me included, get thanks enough through our counters and little notes of positive feedback we get. hey, Absolution alone gets almost twenty hits a day. (yes, i did the math.) plus it feels great to find one's site linked somewhere with a nice blurb. it's also very cool, though, when people explicitly say "thank you." it is appreciated, at least by lonely people like me and miss marlene. keep at it but don't play favorites. okay end cheesy mode. btw sean, plenty of us have heard manson's "ditp" rendition. i'm sure the expression on my face the first time around was the standard one for numan fans on their first exposure to it, but i like it actually, to a degree. for better or for worse, it's very different from the original, unlike some of random. i like numan's version far better though, duh. now let's take a vote: who prefers jimi tenor to marilyn manson when it comes to "down in the park"? (not i.) oh, hey, i found promotion for random!!! a handsome ad in Bikini magazine (the veruca salt issue), bought mainly so i could clip that ad as amazing proof that beggars ain't just twiddling their thumbs (as thought previously). i wonder what month it's for; it seems a bit late to be doing promotion, but better late than never, eh? oh, and david, i've got some spare cash now, let's see that url. :-) love and napalm, Riana "no fighting in here... this is the war room!" - dr. strangelove? To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Hi all I will be going to the Guilford Civic Hall gig on Tuesday 20th of October so i thaught it would be good if anyone else would like to meet up at the concert. Write back to me if you think it's a good idea and for suggestions on where to meet. Errrrrr Nick - maybe you shouldn't buy Exile eh? I can see you popping it into a pan of boiling water after the first playing... Matthew ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Aug 1997 10:10:48 -0500 From: Bookman Subject: thanks everyone To: numan@cs.uwp.edu digesters, thanks for all the well-thought out replies, both persoanal and in the GN Digest, to my pieces of input over the raging religious debate. They reminded me that (IMO) God gave us all the free will to choose to accept Him or not, and that everyone's opinion is important even if i don't agree with them all. What i did feel from those responses was a respect of my opinion from the senders, and explanations of why i should respect theirs, and the points were well taken... though we all haven't changed our viewpoints one iota. I think perhaps Gary Numan listeners are some of the most intelligent, most critical-thinking people in the world, and i'm pleased to have interacted with so many. On Random, (i had sent a message some time ago, but never saw it show up, so it's a little over due), I absolutely love Republica's AFE and Kenickie's I'm An Agent... they rock! Other awesome standouts are Remember I Was Vapour and Everyday I Die. The only two i really don't care for are Metal and She's Got Claws. Too redundant. Films is pretty good; I feel pretty gangsta driving with that one up loud on the tape player. Are there any plans for a Random II? Also, can anyone explain to me how to convert the English pound (?) into U.S. Dollars? I want to order some Numan CDs through the fan club and don't know how much money to send. Thanks. All for now.
