This is NOT confirmed but it did come from a source within the bookstore.Worth checking out. However I think you will find there are actually three versions of the is album on catalogue. The first version (the original) is as you have listed as #train 18 ok. This is also accompanied by the version released to the foreign (ie. not UK) markets, which contained the same tracks, but get this, different mixes! I admit these mixes are only subtly different, but nonetheless they ARE unique. I have both the UK and Dutch vinyl copies of this album. I may be able to set you up with a vinyl UK copy if you want. BTW: On the dramatis subject, does anybody on this list know of, or has a recording of the track 'sand and stone' as performed on their BBC radio broadcast in the early eighties? I would be interested in obtaining this rare item, as I am an avid collector of all things Dramatis, and I lost the recording in a fire. ciao, -------------------------------------------- Jules Seifert 'The Voice of Energy' #Kraftwerk IRC Homepage:- http://wkweb5.cableinet.co.uk/jseifert/kraftwerk/irc.htm ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Oct 1997 17:30:35 +0100 From: eberger Subject: exile album To: numan@cs.uwp.edu hello i am a french fan and i want to buy the exile album how can i do thanks nice to read you eric.berger@hol.fr ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Oct 1997 22:39:37 -0400 From: Sean Francis Subject: Good News & Bad News To: "Numan Digest (GN)" Folks, Good News. Some of you more avid collectors will be intersted to know that you can order the Japanese single album CDs from both CDNow and the Webcrawler Music Store. Prices are around 30 bucks. Bad News. W H Smith's in Tonbridge, Kent, UK are @#$%$#&. On Monday my sister went= down there to pick up my order of Exile which she's gonna ship to me here= in the States. "Oh it hasn't come in yet, maybe tomorrow", came the reply= =2E So, she tries the next day. Same story except this time the WHS moron say= s, "It should be tomorrow, that's when our next delivery comes in". Why woul= d you say try the following day (Tuesday) when you already know that the ne= xt delivery is Wednesday anyway. This is the type of stupidity that pisses = me off about the UK. So, I voice my concerns to my sister (ahem) over the phone and asked why she didn't go to an actual MUSIC store rather than so= me bunch of @#$%$#& who sell magazines and books for a living. She took the hint and strolled off to Our Price. Guess what ? They'd never heard of Exile. Is this all WH Smiths' and Our Prices' fault ? Or is the nightmare of Eagle/BMG just beginning ? I am so pissed that I'm reading reviews of Exile by people who live in America, Canada and even Australia and I can't even get hold of the blood= y thing. Life's not fair rant....rant....rant. I bought Telekon 20 minutes= after it went on sale. My next best was The Fury at 2 hours, but I've always had the new album on the day it was released at least. And now Joey's put clips of all the tracks up on his web site. Aaarrrrhhhhhgggg = ! I can't listen to them, it'll spoil it, but I want to listen to them =2E...aaaggggghh!! If anyone wants to call the company in the UK which will ship you Exile anywhere in the world (see Joey's site) then don't bother. I called them= on Thursday and they didn't have any and didn't know exactly when they would. The guy I spoke to said something about, "Well, you see, the problem is that it changed labels at the last minute which put things bac= k a bit". Oh give me strength. This is enough to make me move back to the U= K just so I can buy the new releases. Hold on a minute - climate, standard = of living, quality of service, price of gas (petrol), hmmmmm - perhaps I'll stay in the US a while longer . Later, Sean. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Oct 1997 08:55:30 +0000 (GMT) From: Philip Lindsay Subject: Good Venues To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Just a quick post for Tom Gorham - Tom, go right ahead and buy your tickets for Glasgow! It is an all seater, but people tend to rush to the front anyway. It isn't a problem though because the atmosphere is excellent there - it's like everyone is there to have a good time whatever. Sometimes it seems that at other venues there's some sort of hero worship going on - Gary finishes a song, then mad cheering for 30 secs and dead silence waiting for the next pearl to descend! Numanoids are mad. But at Glasgow they really appreciate a good performer. (also possibly because Glasgow is the gig for the whole of Scotland, whereas the rest of us have lots to choose from - personally I'm going to 5 of the gigs, 'cause I can). I do prefer standing venues, but sometimes it's nice to sit/stand a your seat and just absorb the atmosphere and savour the performance. If I go to five gigs, I can do that at one of them (Southport, maybe), and go mental at the other four! The gig I've been to which had the best atmosphere was the Nottingham Rock City Gig on the last tour. Relatively small, but sold out and really enthusiastic. (and a mainstream venue as well! loads of very famous bands have/do play there). It was a real pleasure to wig out with a bunch of people who weren't standing open mouthed going 'My God, it's Gary bloody Numan' for a change. I mean, I wig out anyway, but it's nice when the person next to you doesn't mind being elbowed in the ribs! ....and Gemma was standing in front of me during that gig too. To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Anastasios Mistos, Montreal, Quebec. Hi everyone It's been a while since the last time I had a small dispute with that fox character. But no, no, I'm not here to talk with or about Mr.Fox. I'm here to share with my fellow friends that I am off to London England today Oct 23 97. For work of course, and I will have in my hands tommorrow first thing in the morning EXILE CD, and tape so I could listen to it with my walkman. Unfortunatley I can not stay till sunday when the show starts off, because I have to work back home to Montreal on Saturday. But I do have tickets for the show on the 9 Nov., and also arranged to have that whole weekend off to catch at least one or two shows. Thats all folks, I am so happy I just had to share that with you. Out of all of Dante's punishments, I guess t= he Epicurian eternal tomb is his fate - one I will gladly share with him. Gemma is listed as assistant engineer cos she twiddled a couple of knobs.= "When I say a word, it means exactly what I want it to mean" said Humpty Dumpty. Ted, brilliant to have another Fisher Price Little People collector on board - welcome! Great to know the Patterson "Bigfoot" film has been exposed as a hoax. Do= es anyone still believe in Abominable Snowmen? No, don't answer that. Has anyone not been abducted by aliens? I know a hypnotherapist who will convince you you have. On a sad note, The Times has slated Exile. But cheer up! If anyone thinks= this must be an intelligent and therefore valid review, the guy suggests that Gary is influenced by Tears For Fears. Oh, OK! Another writer to dismiss. Another Christian. Matthew Roberts P.S. Oxford Street, London W1 22nd October 1997 - no vinyl, no cassettes,= no books. Would love to review it but cannot find it. Stores I've tried here in St. Louis give me a blank look when I mention Gary Numan. I THOUGHT THIS NEW RECORD DEAL WAS TO ENSURE WORLD WIDE RELEASE OR DON'T WE IN THE STATES COUNT? Sorry, but it's been a long time between albums and keeps getting longer for us on this side of the Atlantic. Brad ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Oct 1997 20:45:36 -0500 From: machman@interaccess.com (Jeff Tolva) Subject: Why Gaz or Gazza?? To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Fellow Numanoids, I've noticed in many recent as well as past posts to the Digest that many fans refer to Gary Numan as Gaz or Gazza. Now I've been a Numanoid since 1980, so I wasn't born yesterday. I know these terms have been around for many years, BUT why do some fans want to use these terms? I was under the impression that it was one of the UK "press darlings" in the early 80's that tagged Gary with these terms and others in the UK press picked up on them and used them. As I don't remember this bloke actually caring too much for Gary as a person or for Gary's music, I've always seen the terms Gaz or Gazza as slightly deragatory. Therefore, as a fan, I've always refered to Gary Numan as...well "Gary". Am I the only one who feels this way about the use of the terms Gaz or Gazza? Personally I see no reason to perpetuate such stupid terms, but then again I've never used them to refer our man, Gary. I'm all but certain Gary would rather be called Gary than Gaz or Gazza. If you must, let the flames begin... Jeff Tolva (The Machman) ------------------------------ End of Gary Numan Digest ******************************
