As I know, will this album only released here. "DARK" was the Track No.12 on the second CD. The Song was complete remixed has a total length of 6:42 mins. and a guitar-part in the middle. They are also some samples from the TOMB RAIDER II-Game used. Some of them (like Lara's scream) are totally misplaced, others (barking dogs) gives the song more atmosphere . I can help you if you want this double-cd. Send me an e-mail. The price for the double-cd is 30,-DM (normal price: 45,-DM). ------- MACHINE + SOUL - The GARY NUMAN-Website From Germany ------- (http://www.netsurf.de/~klaus.sauer/MachSoul.htm) ------- Klaus Sauer, Kirchstr. 10, 45699 Herten, ------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Dec 1997 14:43:34 -0500 From: Sam Warren Subject: New to the list...again To: numan@cs.uwp.edu I have just been added to the Gary Numan list. I was actually on already, but I seemed to have been bumped off somehow. I highly suspect that it must have been because messages were bounced from my site. If that's what happened, I was completely unaware of it and can only say that my LAN department is not exactly staffed by mental giants. ;-) So anyway, hello again everyone! Since I had never sent an introductory message when I first subscribed, I suppose now is as good a time as any (since I'm new to the list all over again). I am in the Human Resources department of a financial publishing firm in New York City. Aside from Gary, a few of my favorite artists are: Laurie Anderson, Joan Armatrading, Bjoerk, Erasure, Peter Gabriel, Philip Glass, Rickie Lee Jones, Shane MacGowan, and Sinead O'Connor. That's in alphabetical order and has nothing to do with degrees of preference. I have an extensive disc collection, but I'm not mentioning some of the other stuff that might bring on sneers of derision. ;-) I have been listening to Gary since my freshman year of college, which was in 1979. A roommate brought home the _Replicas_ album one day, and I was immediately hooked. _Telekon_ is still my favorite (I even went to a Halloween party that year as Gary wearing a replica of the outfit he wears on the cover - and you can't believe how hard it was to find black fingernail polish!). I think _Machine and Soul_ may be at the bottom of my list. For several years, I continued to buy his albums, but feared the Gary I loved was gone forever. As it turns out, the Gary I loved *is* gone forever, as he has gone through a number of evolutionary changes. _Sacrifice_ made me very happy that I'd stuck with him all these years, and although _Exile_ is superior in technical quality, I'm afraid it doesn't hold a candle to the variety offered on _Sacrifice_. "Bleed," "Magic," "Love and Napalm" and "You Walk In My Soul" all still fascinate me. I guess that's all I can say about myself at this time. Great to be back on the list. :-) Sam Warren ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Dec 1997 11:08:21 +0100 From: DE VISSCHER Luc Subject: NU-Zone Down down down :-( :-( :-((( To: "'numan@cs.uwp.edu'" Hello fellow numannies, I've already written a personal message to Matthew Holbrook about the shame that NU-Zone has to go. He briefly explained me what happened, and I have to tell you people that I am shocked by the behavior of some other people versus Matthew. Even if he put in subjective feelings, that doesn't mean he should be slammed. I appreciated his personal view on some subjects, and even if I didn't agree, I feel everyone has the right for his/her own opinion. RESPECT! Anyway, NU-Zone was for me a bigger source of information than NU-World, because of its regular updates. I think I took a look at NU-Zone almost daily, while I only take a weekly view on NU-World. Anyway, I respect Matthews decision, but I feel very sorry that this had to turn out like it is. I will miss NU-Zone! Then I also want to join the discussion about the sound quality of Sacrifice. It is a shame that one of Gary's best albums has such a poor sound quality. This is also the reason why I don't play it as often as I usually do, just for the poor sound. When the Extended came, I hoped it would've been remastered, but it wasn't. It's a pity. When I once mentioned it to Gary after a concert in the after tour party, he told me it was my stereo system that was wrong. I couldn't believe it! Everybody mentioned to me the poor sound quality and that was Gary's reply. I was thus rather happy to read that now with the TERRIFIC Exile, he had to admit the sound problems. To: So, the other day, I was watching VH1's special on Led Zepplin and guess what? You know that rather repititious drum loop that Gary has been using on the last two albums? The sort of Bass tic Snare Bass Bass Snare... (Drat, if only I could copy a bit of the wav file :-) Anyway... I don't remember the song, but it is off Zepplin's first or second album... SAME PATTERN! But much slower. What this probably means is that whomever made the sample collection that Gary took the beat from got it from Zep... I believe Matthew is still having problems with his health, and this may have contributed to his decision. Get well soon, Matthew, and I hope to see NuZone up and running again in the not-too-distant future. I enjoy listening to it and I enjoy watching him. When I see the Numan Principle in action I get both. Now I'm thinkng, which do I like best? This is an almost frightening thought. I saw TNP on Thursday and I strongly recommend anyone who hasn't yet seen these guys to do so. I had a most enjoyable evening. Again I would like to extend my thanks to Jason for the pleasure. Thanks also to the rest of the band (who were playing for real). Wonderful and fabulous. See you again Saturday, I hope.
