I took the version that's on the Cleopatra release from the cd single A Question of Faith (devout edit) which is the same as the album version from Sacrifice (extended) I think at 8:43. The version of Sacrifice on the Eagle box set is not the extended version. The extended Sacrifice was released through the fan club in 95 with the catalog number NUMACDX 1011 and is well worth tracking down. Each of the ten tracks are extended anywhere from two to four minutes from the original 94 album (which is also the 98 box set version, the 98 Cleopatra version and the 99 Eagle version, except with different bonus tracks and different artwork). If you're confused, just BUY THEM ALL (I did!!) (ha ha) Thanks for the compliment on the artwork! It went too quickly for me to see the title of the track or the other artists. Suppose I'll have to buy the soundtrack now!!! Convention was brill, I just love PVC and had two different outfits on that night, one is black and red, yes I am a true fan!! BY the way I love Marilyn Manson. There is a gig on 10th July 1999 at Milton Keynes Bowl with MM and Metallica, Placebo and many others. Great I thought, lets get tickets! Until I tried to book a hotel room. Apparently some complete arsehole has booked the gig on the same weekend as Silverstone so you can't get a room for love nor money. If you manage to find one then the prices are triple. I went to Ozzfest last year and the hotel was =A355 per night. I rang the same hotel and the price is now =A315= 0 for room only!!! And they didn't have a double only a single left!!!! Whoever did the booking of this event needs his balls cut off!!!] Bye for now JIll Matthews ------------------------------ Date: 27 Mar 1999 22:05:20 -0800 From: "Richard Nielsen" Subject: Desperately Seeking CD To: ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Mar 1999 22:02:15 -0800 From: "Richard Nielsen" Subject: Desperately Seeking CD To: For years now, since my first copy was stolen, I've been seeking Gary's New Anger CD -- I can't find it anywhere, even on Amazon and CDNow. Digressing for a moment, the guy who checked out the sound quality of the re-releases by listening on the college computer with some head phones needs to wake up !! Do you know how much the cd drive in a pc costs to make ??? 2/10ths of knack all !! Anyone who thinks they're hearing a difference that way is dilluding themselves..." True the players are not that great, but if you have studio recording equipment programs on the PC with good visual EQs etc, you can actually even see the difference as well as hearing them. Also, I broke down and bought the Remodulate CD for the few tracks that I needed top replace my vinyl copies of, and I must say that now I am sure to buy the Exile non extended version. Then I also went ahead and picked up the Dark Light live CD, and I must say that in MY oppinion, it is the best live CD of his since the farewell tour in '81. It is just so full of emotion, and energy. I felt that White noise and others lacked this energy. This may be a live CD that I play often. well, I will retreat now, and wait to see what nit picking other Digesters can do to one-another. To: Gary Numan Well, I for one have always been jealous of the _English_. It seems all of the best and coolest things all come from there. As far back as I can remember I have always wanted to visit England and to _BE_ British for that matter. All the best music comes from England: The Beatles (THE measuring stick by which all music has been compared to since), The Who, The Stones, Queen, Led Zepplin, Genesis, and, of course, our boy Gary Numan. If anyone has had a chance to peruse the book "The Punk Years" about the genesis of the punk scene that spawned the rebirth (IMHO) of music in the late seventies and early eighties. Basically EVERYTHING that happened of note (outside of CBGB's in NY) occurred in Britain. Let's just forget about the great actors, the terrific accent for God's sake, James Bond, Captain Picard, Benny Hill, The Young Ones, Douglas Adams, Monty Python, ... Because you've got Gary. I for one would give my left arm to go to England. Anyone over there know of any openings in Digital Prepress over there? I'd move in a heartbeat. I can't imaging what anyone finds so damn wonderful about living over here. Between the crime, the guns, the drugs - hell I'd take Britain over this shit any day. Well, at least Americans make good movies. Gary Numan To Appear In Fear Factory Clip For 'Cars' Nothing feels right in cars, unless you're in Fear Factory, who feel quite at home in cars. So much so that they covered Gary Numan's '80s anthem for the recently released Obsolete digi-pak, which contains the complete Obsolete album plus five bonus tracks, including "Cars." Now the band has decided to release "Cars" as a single, and Gary Numan himself has signed on to appear in the video, which is on the schedule for taping on April 9. William Morrison is slated to direct. The Fear Factory digi-pak was released on March 23 by Roadrunner Records. In other news, Fear Factory recently recorded four songs for use in the video game Demolition Racer, which is due out by Accolade for the Sony Playstation this fall. The band is currently touring the U.S. with System of a Down, Hed (pe), Spineshank, and will head over to Holland for the Dynamo Festival, an 80-band, four-stage metalfest, from May 21-23. - Kevin Raub ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Mar 1999 18:19:38 -0500 (EST) From: Machman@netdirect.net Subject: Oh Yeah, before I forget To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Is there ANYOne out there that will be watching this Martin Clunes movie in the futurs, that will be able to tape it in NTSC. Sister Ray has been a great supporter of Gary, and are perhaps the only retail store to stock Extended Exile in the UK. Neil at Sister Ray is the guy who is the big Numan supporter. I asked him about the Numan/Nicholson disc. He said he is in contact frequently with Hugh Nicholson. Neil said the problems with the CD's release may be that Nicholson may not have the publishing rights to all the songs. He also thought that maybe Gary was trying to stop the release. Sister Ray are taking people's credit card numbers to reserve copies, but they will not charge anything to them until the CDs are in their hands to be shipped. Sister Ray is a great store lying between Oxford Street and Piccadilly. They had all the Numan reissues for an excellent #6.99 each. Generally they are cheaper than the big chains - Virgin and HMV on Oxford Street. While those stores have very large selections in store, the #15.99 for most CDs and #10.49 for mid-price CDs made me choke. Indeed, independant stores seem to be able to offer CDs for at least #2 less. Do Virgin and HMV have the same owners now - EMI? They were having identical sales (2 CDs for #22 on slect discs) and were even using the same stickers. There seemed to be a distinct lack of competition between the two stores. I completed my UK BB reissue acquisition needs at Sister Ray. These CDs are superb and a bargain. The UK issue of Telekon has the different intro to REmind Me to Smile - no ascending intro, as on the original UK vinyl release. The different to the original versions of Remember I was Vapour and The Joy Circuit from Telekon, and We Have a Technical on Replicas, are identical to the US issues. I am very much looking forward to the post Telekon albums. I will also get The PLan to complete the set, but like my other copies of it, won't listen to it much, if at all. So if you are in London, stop by Sister Ray. They are worth checking out. There are a few other stores on Berwick street but I did not have enough time to check them out. It was great being in a country where music is taken more seriously than in the USA. I saw posters advertising new albums outside of music stores. The availability of music made me want to move back to the UK. That'll not happen for a while though. Derek ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derek H.
