I am on a mad hunt for the sheet music for "Down in the Park". Does anyone know where I can beg, borrow, or steal this music? Can I find it on the web? I would also love to find an original Tubeway Army t-shirt. Where can I possibly find this? I did finally receive them, but it does make you wonder what the heck is happening here. I suppose it's one way of getting rid of old stocks ;-) Or maybe the postman is one hell of a Numan-fan... "The truth is out there..." Which brings me to Foo Fighter's "DITP". Bought the X-Files CD that was mentioned here a few Digests ago, as I hadn't heard any other Numan covers 'cept Random I + II. Well, I liked it. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea. Also got the Girls Under Glass version - it's interesting... Wouldn't advise you to rush out and buy it though. Oh, and for what it's worth: I wholly agree with "Florian Meyer" comments; we all make mistakes at one time or other, but is that a reason to bitch about it in the Digest? Don't we Numanoids have a hard enough time as it is? How about a little tolerance?! Take care all! _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? Gesendet von Yahoo! Admittedly I misquoted my card number first time around but I cleared that up late last year. I get the impression they are very busy and their email system falls over a lot. I guess I'll try ordering them from somewhere else, I'm just a bit nervous whether I'll be able to successfully cancel the order. I know of at least one other person who's had similar delays. I don't have a scanner, not that that's a set back, because that's the only Numan interview I've ever seen here since I arrived in 1989. It's from a song by Half Man Half Biscuit, called (appropriately enough) "Numanoid Hang-glide." Also features a clever bit about Jesus, quite relevant considering the subject matter of Exile. Huzzah, chalk up another point for the best named band in the world. Anyone up for an afternoon of hang-gliding, then? I run into the next room and what is it? Background music for a truck commercial!!! ARRGH. It was beautiful and it was used condescendingly... "Screw this kind of la-di-da music, give us WWF wrestlers' theme music and a big stupid truck!" What's with the recent streak of good music in commercials that don't deserve it? To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Hello Numanoids Of The World! It is Jim "The Machman" Napier back in the fray with some Numan bits and even some intangible ramblings for the more persistent readers! Most excellent news to report: Here in Ithaca, NY we enjoy the great, if standard alternative-fare formatted, college radio station WICB-FM. Well, (Pause for effect but without whisper) it seems that on April Fool's Day, a college student got it in his head to play one song 23 times in a row, and that song was none other than Gary Numan's "Cars". That's right, he would play it, go to the weather or a local communtiy event announcement, then say, "And now it's Gary Numan with Cars!" I called him 3 times during this blessed event to thank him profusely. Others did apparently, I listened to one caller who got on the air who described his fandom for Gary and saying how much he still respects his music. The DJ got in a little trouble for his schtick, so I called the station manager to go easy on him for playing 'Cars' for 90 minutes on Central New York State's most powerful radio station. After contacting the DJ again, it seems he was let off with a warning. I described to him how Gary has been talking for 2 decades about his lack of airplay. Well, on April 1, 1999, in Central New York, Our Friend Electric received more airplay than Celine Dion or even N'Sync. Hey did anyone see the gaming magazine ad for Interstate '82? It featured the inside of the virtual automobile with the words, "Here in my car I feel safest of all." Then at the bottom, "It's the only way to live. In cars." Most excellent I say. This ad is, without question, 'Machman Approved'. Keep your eyes peeled for the New and Improved North American Gary Numan Fan Club Website with audio snippets from Gary's 1998 tour, way cool scans, or if you are in the mood to Stump The Machman, you can win valuable prizes like audio tapes with Numan interviews. That feature is sort of a throwback to the NAGNFC's monthly Club Fanzine feature 'Is Trivia Electric?' You see (for the newbies), the NAGNFC was your one stop source for Numan info before everyone linked up to this marvel of wonder that is the Internet. Yep, a color monthly mailing replete with the hottest news and more of the above sort of rambling that Numanoids quickly sifted through to get the more relevant stuff. For a preview of the website, won't you visit me please? http://members.theglobe.com/polarebear As for now, this polarebear is going back up north to Nunavut to film some more Coca-Cola commercials. After all, someone has to promote Gary Numan's beverage of choice.
