On Dance, Paul only played on Night Talk. Someone named Mick Prague played on Stories, and the rest of the bass guitar on that album (five songs) is Mick Karn. That's an interesting point; I'd always assumed that the machmen /and/ the machines were killing people - but thinking about it, that's probably wrong. The next line is "Down in the park with a friend called five" - and we have already been made aware that friends are manufactured (Are 'Friends' Electric? and from TA "Did you know that Friends come in boxes" for example). Nevertheless there remains one question: Does have anyone of you sheet music, I mean music notes, by Gary. Or maybe someone has played e.g. Down in the Park on piano and has noticed the music notes anywhere??? This is based on chart positions & weeks in the chart etc. & not on record sales. Anyway Gary is at an extremely respectable number '27', with 'Cars'. It may be a bit of a formidable shadow at times, but it certainly made me feel quite proud, to see that! They also have a recent photo of Gary & not circa 79! Its one of the ones where he is standing in a tunnel (I think its on the DLR at Docklands maybe?). Quite disappointing though, is the fact that this book only lists singles, in the 'By Artist Section', which made it into the Top 75. So there isn't a complete list of all of Gary's singles. The most recent entry under 'Numan', is for the 96 Premier mix of 'Cars'. I think the last one listed is 'Machine & Soul'. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 Jun 1999 21:14:21 +1200 From: "D & J Hall" Subject: Here in my car... AND Numa got the rights to Metal Rhythm!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!! Now my collection can be complete, meaning that I will have all of the albums in one form or another, rather than I have everything Numan that was ever released. Until now Metal Rhythm/New Anger has not been available here at all, I had a friend pick up Outland when he was in the states a few years ago and by the time I got online, MR/NA was not to be found. I will probably have to order it online and will go through NuStreet if only so that Gary gets the markup. Darren "Stuck in his little red corolla" Hall. [1] Want/Need - what is the difference? To: "The Digest" Does anybody know where if anywhere to buy a plain tubeway army face T shirt from. No lettering, nothing on the back, just black face on a white T shirt? I don't understand why his nibbs does not sell them on nuworld. What about an exile logo in red on a black shirt, no writing, cool. I bought a tie dye brownie/beige exile symbol long sleeve shirt from the NEC bike show a couple of years ago. Couldn't believe it when I saw it and after quizzing the greasy biker type he said that it was a ancient European probably Celtic, tribal symbol. Never been able to learn too much more than that. Its not that I don't want people to know that I'm a 'noid, it just that... well I don't want a shirt with 'Gary' on it, numans great but Gary is a bit Phil Collins if you now what I mean. O K perhaps my main problem is that I am DANGEROUSLY close to my 30th birthday. I hasten to add I have lots of hair and only look to be in my early 20s but... its coming. I still would like that tubeway shirt though... James Chapman kindly told me to try Esprint for the automatic CD, and I thank him for that, but sadly they were out of stock. I wont be using the mix as a beer mat as I live in a pub and have access to lots, well I don't actually live IN a pub I live above it..... ok sometimes I live in it. No I'll be using the mix for.... ar bollocks I don't know, I'm gonna have a pint. This is the album that I've been working on since December. The release date for this new album is now February next year I'm afraid. This is mainly my fault as I'm being very paranoid about the new songs. I've now written sixteen and still don't think I've got the right feel or sound. A compilation album called 'New Dreams For Old' will be released by Eagle soon. I can't find the track listing at the moment so I'll post it as soon as I find it. METAL RHYTHM (News date: May 28) Metal Rhythm, the album that was originally released by IRS, and irritatingly retitled New Anger in the States, is to be re-released. We thought it was being put out by EMI who now own the IRS catalogue but, apparently, it reverted back to us at Numa Records. We have now digitally remastered it, it now sounds much heavier, added a number of extra tracks and hope to have it available within the next month or so. ----- I didn't realise Gary was not signed for another album with Eagle. I am surprised they are willing to wait until February for a delivered product, what with 16 songs already written. After Exile was reworked and remastered I can understand Gary being skittish to let something out of the studio without it sitting around a while. A new compilation - I am underwhelmed. Unless it has some of the missing from CD songs/mixes I expect to skip this one. Several people recently mentioned that another compilation was the last thing that should be released, other than a new singles collection. Intriguing that Gary again has control of Metal Rhythm. One wonders about Outland. The remaster sounds heavier? Is he tinkering with the mix or remastering it back to what it was before IRS got hold of it. Hang on, that was the Outland scenario. Bonus tracks - expect to see I Don't Believe, Children, America 7", maybe Shame, perhaps Devious US mix, but I doubt the William Orbit mix of MDM will show up as Gary was very critical of IRS adding that to the non-UK versions (I always see people refer to New Anger as the US version, but that is the same as the Japanese and German issues, and I am sure all others outside the UK). Strange it would come out on Numa rather than Eagle though, or perhaps it will be out on Eagle. Eagle now only need the license of Heart to put out a comprehensive follow-up to Premier Hits (ignoring all the collaborative work he has done). Apart from that, "Remember I Was Vapour" has a nice synth section missing, and apparently "Remind Me To Smile" has a different drum intro but it's either too subtle for me to notice or it's just the effect of the remastering. Also the violins on "The Joy Circuit" sound slightly different...maybe just the effect of the remastering. I doubt they would take away from the original experience, the differences are miniscule except IDYD.
