Over six billion served, crisis what crisis? c) Alec Way has more compassion in the tip of his little finger than Rush Blimpaugh has in all of his pro clubbing walrus to death persona will ever fathom. *(For those using Rush lyrics as a prop, see inner sleve of 'Rush' LP 'Test For Echo' - if you want to know what the band 'Rush' think of him - *Track 10 is titled (Rush)Limbo). d) The Interview A. Way cites where Gary Numan is very thankful for the greenbelt which surrounds London is from Nov. 1981, Toronto, Canada during his round the world flight, and yes, I agree with GN and A. Way. e) Yes, you are absolutely right, I am a bleeding heart liberal. Now go ahead and have yourself a great life. Peace Out, John ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Jul 1999 04:27:13 +0800 From: jean burgess Subject: Danny T/sort of To: "numan@cs.uwp.edu" Hi everyone I just wanted to say that this is the first time I've seen the whole digest come together on an issue. I disagree that we should bury it as soon as possible, I think our strength, intelligence and sense of humour has come out over this. It's no longer about what Danny T wrote, it never was. We've already argued this point over before, but this time I think there have been some really sensible arguments (not that I'm saying there weren't any sensible arguments last time), I emphasize *really* sensible, because people were willing to agree with someone in part even though they were obviously just being provocative and didn't readily justify a response. I think Danny T is what we need, because he reminds us that we should not be attacking each other as there are plenty of Danny T's who can do that for us. Personally I feel much stronger in my opinion since Danny's comments. "Danny our saviour unites us together against a common enemy - the ignorant, perverse members of society." "Do you have a reason for calling at all......." jean ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Jun 1999 13:25:47 +0100 From: Paul Denman Subject: Freeserve Numan To: numan@cs.uwp.edu Hi, I seem to be getting EMail for people who believe they have the EMail address of: [their name]@numan.freeserve.co.uk The bad news for these people, is that I have the domain name 'numan.freeserve.co.uk' registered & not them. Dealing with any business, let alone one that you never have any interaction with other than email and a 'secure' credit card transaction, is a risk. The nice thing about being in a group such as this is that you've got 'friends' to help you steer clear of the potential pitfalls such as was Ben's experience. Nevertheless, I had already placed the order with Mass Music and so I had to hope for a better outcome. In the spirit of fairness, I'm reporting that Mass Music did deliver the goods. Three CDs (TA, Replicas, TPP) arrived this past Saturday, exactly a week after I placed the order and all for a total of $24.97US. So while I continue to empathize with Ben's misfortune, I'll not be discontinuing conducting business with Mass Music. I will however, continue to keep a close watch on the status of my future orders. I should note that I went back to the Mass Music web site after I received Ben's email and did some additional reading of the 'terms and conditions'. It says there that if an item is backordered and doesn't come in within ten days, it is automatically canceled (but didn't specifically say they would notify the customer of the action). I found this a bit of a funny business practice; it seems to me it would be in their best interest to find out if the customer is still interested in continuing to wait for the item before abandoning the sale. Also their sales catalog doesn't seem to be using the same database as their orders record. This past Thursday, when I checked the status of my order via the website, it said that all 3 CDs were on backorder. I went back to the 'catalog' and it said they were 'On Sale' (only now for $9.97) and 'In Stock'. It seems unlikely that the items were on backorder two days before I received them, but possible I suppose. In any case, either the catalog or the order status was wrong. All of this is a long winded way of reminding everyone to evoke the old adage, 'Caveat Emptor' before transmitting your credit card info.
