It's fun to hate Christians and people who believe in love and forgiveness of their fellow man." Christians AND......!!! No, no no! It's just fun to hate Christians. I'm an anti-theist, as well = as an atheist but I think love and forgiveness of my fellow man is OK. Unlik= e the Seattle authorities, nudge-nudge, wink-wink... it's OK to protest so long as you don't upset Mr Trans-National Corporation... WANKERS!!! Do I believe in my fellow man qua my fellow man? Depends what that means,= but I certainly believe in the power of evolution, of which man, monkeys,= earth worms, bacteria and capitalists are products (well capitalists only= indirectly - I wrote that for comic effect. They are actually the product= of human greed, which is a product of evolution, but like all products of= evolution, just a temporary state of affairs). Kimberly, well hello... Gary Numan videos? Well I consider myself a fifteenth Dan, so let's see: Cars Complex We Are Glass I Die: You Die She's Got Claws Love Needs No Disguise Music For Chameleons We Take Mystery (To Bed) We Take Mystery (To Bed) - Top Of The Pops version White Boys And Heroes - Top Of The Pops version (yummy!) Warriors Berserker - German promo My Dying Machine - German promo Change Your Mind Your Fascination Call Out The Dogs This Is Love I Can't Stop New Thing From London Town Radio Heart No More Lies - I think?? never seen it Heart - 2 versions?? I'm sure I recall an alternate from a post-gig disco= in Sheffield Emotion Machine And Soul Like A Refugee Dominion Day Cars - Fear Factory version + "countless" live videos Now, I did this from memory, in a drunken state, so if you must correct me... go ahead. Benjamin - what an angel you are, giving away Numan records. If that 12" has got Mistasax, it must be the blue sleeve version, which was identical= to the black sleeve version, except for Mistasax. Those were the days - local Our Price - "My God! Isn't that Radio Heart... in a different colou= r sleeve! I MUST buy it" Isn't it strange that GFM records could get their release schedule right, but Eagle managed to release both versions of the= Dominion Day CD in the same week? Maybe that's why GFM got a shit record = to no.35 but Eagle couldn't get a superb record in the top 75. But I musn't knock the current money men.... Matthew Roberts waiting for Tom Binns P.S. Gary's doing Shepherds Bush in April. That'll be 5 tickets my good man! P.P.S. Can someone please comment on diminished fifths. There must be a musician on the Digest. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 02 Dec 1999 07:28:55 -0700 From: "Joey Lindstrom" Subject: Miscellaneous (and a big hello to Valerium!) To: "Gary Numan" >From Pat Weber: >I tend to agree; however, life has taught me to be *extremely* tolerant. >There are few things I am intolerant of and one of those is intolerance. >I'm >normally very open to just about anything so long as it's not hurting >anyone. >(Folks, Joey comes to mind, would probably call me a "screaming >liberal.") >Life has had the very nasty tendency to, when I'm intolerant, throw me >right >smack dab in that person's shoes, and I find out what it's like. And I >inevitably readjust my attitude. Life's been real good about teaching me >what matters and what doesn't. Believe it or not, I'm the same way (putting myself in the other person's shoes). I find it REALLY makes life a lot easier when you live with room-mates (as I've done since leaving home 14 years ago) who have wildly diverging personalities. You and I probably have the same empathy for, let's say, the homeless guy sleeping in a back alley - we differ only in how we might choose to try to solve the problem. :-) If yer tryin' to nail down my position on the spectrum, bear in mind that I've misled everybody with all the Rush Limbaugh quotes. I'm actually closer to Jesse Ventura (right-wing economically, centrist socially). >> >WHAT THE HELL does it matter what Gary's sexual orientation is? If >> >someone produces music you like, does that mean that person's sexual >> >orientation would immediately and irrevocably determine YOURS? It must, >> >else why should you CARE? >> >> I know I'm gonna surprise you here, but ol' conservative >> Limbaugh-loving Joey agrees with ya 100%. :-) > >Might have something to do with good ole "common sense?" Robert Heinlein told us that "common sense" is an oxymoron, along with "military intelligence". :-) Even when he doesn't say it, you can see it in every single book he ever wrote... >Conservative or not, Joey, yer heart's in a good place, and >that's why I love ya! Thanks - and right back atcha. :-) "Some of my best friends are liberals" (insert huge grin here, and a wink and a nod to Riana as well) And thus endeth the love-fest, because now we come to.... Valerium writes: >Dear dear Joey, The reason no-one flamed your "just a wee bit over the edge" >ranting is cos its old news, its what you do, same ol same ol etc etc etc. Oh. I see. So in fact, *I* am the problem and *I* am the reason Gary chose to explode all over his website. Ah, it all makes sense to me now... >No-one gives a toss. Did you reply to the kind emails you received. My >memory serves me well that its only the "bad" ones you reply to. Ah, the whinger set is finally heard from. Yes, believe it or not, that bastard Joey did indeed reply to the kind emails. Perhaps the reason you feel I only reply to "bad" ones is due to the fact that that's the only type you write? My mailbox is still overflowing with your earlier missives... and as to whether anyone gives a toss, I respectfully disagree. OK, maybe not so respectfully - I have to consider the source. Take a look at all the posts in the last few Digests and see what percentage of them deal with this topic. Quite the contrary, I think it's something a LOT of people feel pretty strongly about. Maybe I've been listening to the Jim Rome show too much and went overboard with my initial post, but then again as Pat said: sometimes these things need to be said. The next time you see Gary Numan in person, maybe you should take your comments above to the logical next step. Walk up to him and say, "Gary, you should send a thank-you email to everybody who has ever posted a positive review of one of your concerts. My memory serves me well that you only comment publicly when there are negative reviews." Go on, I dare ya. And see how long it is before Gary Layton has to pull him off you, lest he pound your face in. But no... no, I'm the wanker here. Fuck that. You may not have posted one of the negative reviews Gary's been bitching about (it's hard to tell, most are anonymous and *YOU* are always anonymous), but unlike Jon Garland et al, you *ARE* one of the "same old whingers" he's talking about. How does that taste, Val? Gary Numan despises you. Chew on that. >P.S. Any chance you could keep your inevitable reply to under 10,000 words? No. No, I couldn't possibly do that. :-) A. Way writes: >Secondly, Joey Lindstrom, sorry for mis-spelling your last name. I know >what a drag that is. (I'm still getting catalogs from Guitar Center for >someone named "Aloe Wag" and a second copy for an "Alice Wax") ROFLMAO! Yeah, along the way I've picked up a lot of junk mail for "Joy Lindstorm" and "Jo Lindstum". It's usually my first clue that the letter doesn't need to be opened. :-) (serves me write for a poor choice of parents... English on the maternal side, Swedish on the paternal, serving up a HIDEOUS name combination). One of my friends is named Blaine Thurlow, but once got junkmail addressed to "Brian Gurlow". This was about ten years ago, and we *STILL* call him Brian Gurlow to this day... ;-) Man, we're a buncha bastards... >I confess to being a little enhanced that day. I have just watched him perform FRIENDS and take part in a so called interview. I believe in saying what you think, and so here goes................ Gary, your performance was so bloody boring. Nothing new, same long coat, same big boots, same rock star type thrashy stage work. If Manchester was similar to that performance then I thank god that I didn't attend it. I LOVE Gary Numan's music from the early days right upto the latest offering, and I think that I always will. But he just doesn't seem to be able to cut it these days in the live performance element of his trade. I think it's time to drop the "dressed in black, gothic, anti god, rock mystereo image because it is just making him look a fool. I used to wear make up and black nail varnish when I was in my prime(!!!) and try to look like Gary, but it just doesn't work on him anymore. I am not saying " Hey Gary, it's time to wear the Val Doonican cardigans and slippers". No way, I am just saying that he should stop trying to be the Numan of old and let the music speak for itself and bollocks to the image. I realize that a lot of negative things have been said about Gary on here recently and that a lot of people, Gary included, have taken umbridge about it. But I think that should not stop people like me who have been fans for about 20 years (god, I feel old!!!) voicing their opinions and speaking their minds. I very much doubt that whatever Gary does in the future regarding his appearance and so called image will stop me from loving his music. He was a great influence on me when I was a spotty teenager and NOTHING can ever take that away from me. The man IS a genius and I look forward, with the same excitement that I always did, to his new album. Gary, if you read this and think that I am a total wanker then I forgive you!!!!!! I am just someone who has held you in great esteem for so long and hate it when I see you looking cheap and repetitive . To: "'Gary Numan Digest'" So, Gary hasn't released anything new lately, and isn't likely to for a long while. And we're not to talk about the Manchester gig unless we say it was good. Hmmm.... Er... Um... Anyway, based on insider knowledge, here's the full rundown for the "Tom Binns Munchies" show. 1. Gary will not turn up wearing dayglo pink dungarees. With matching earrings. 2. Gary will not vow to eat all his remaining fans whilst being interviewed. 3. Steven Wells of the NME will not join Gary onstage and they will not do a duet of "Absolution" ... and they will not gaze lovingly into each others eyes whilst singing the song. 4. Celine Dion won't be playing bass and she will not be bizarrely electrocuted during the first chorus. 5. Gary will not throw up at the end of "Friends" and he most definitely will not smear vomit over the lens of the nearest camera. 6. Gary will not announce that the new album was in fact finished 6 months ago and that it'll be out on Monday so we can have something remotely interesting (and sane) to talk about. Steve ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Dec 1999 14:28:49 -0000 From: Matthew Tamea Subject: tom binns munchies To: "'Numan Digest'" Well, Gazza's first appearance on terrestrial TV for ages (seems like anyway) on Tom Binns Munchies. This program was a pilot, and from what I can see won't make it into a series as it was abysmal (is that how you spell it?). The presenter was just crap and the editing some of the worst ever!! Was that guy meant to be a Numan fan. As he was dressed in black, had Gary on his first show, and mooed "Nuuuuuuuuuuumaaaaaaaaan" when Gaz finished the song made it look like he was, but then he went on to his never ending and obviously lengthily prepared "jokes" about Gazza's flying. Yeah yeah yawn yawn. You could see Gaz getting pissed off but being nice. Having said that I'm glad he played Friends (something the presenter made reference to by way of "do you get fed up of being asked to play cars?") as I love that new version, and Richard Harris is just so cool now, although I have to say I think he's starting to look more and more like Darth Maul. Expect full red and black make up by the time the April show comes around (which I won't be able to go to cos I'm on honeymoon) :-( Cheers Matthew ------------------------------ End of Gary Numan Digest ****************************** _______________________________________________________________________ _____ ____ ____ _____ _____ / \ | | / \ / \ / \ / \ | |-----| |-----| | |-----| |-----| | | | G | | A | | | R | | Y | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |-----| |-----| | |-----| |-----| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | N | E | W | S |=====| | | | | | | | & | | | | | | | \_____/ I | N | F | O | | | | is produced and distributed by Derek Langsford dlangs@sunstroke.sdsu.edu -------------------------------------------------------------------------- To reply to the messages in this list, mail to: numan@cs.uwp.edu If you want to be removed, or someone wants to be added, you can mail to numan-request@cs.uwp.edu ----------------- The Gary Numan Digest is brought to you via Datta Production and Development, 905 97th Street, Kenosha, WI 53143 USA datta@cs.uwp.edu and computer resources courtesy of University of Wisconsin-Parkside and Datta Production and Development.
