Have been a fan since '79 when I was a mere 10 years of age and still get excited when going to his shows. After years of grief from friends and family, it is good to know there are other fans out there. Brian Eno Portishead Marc Almond Belle and Sebastian The Klezmatics I, too, have the "801 live" album and agree that it's a good fit for Numan fans, even if Eno pretends not to know who Gary Numan is. Will listen to t.m.k. again for specific Numan references. Ian ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Mar 2000 15:44:18 +0300 From: "The Tik-Tok Man" Subject: Cars? My top 5 non Numan bands: BLONDIE EDENS RAGE BJORK JOHN FOXX GARBAGE Although I must confess to nearly always listening to Numan these days - the six disc cd changer in the car is constantly filled with six Numan discs. Looking forward to the new album , I don't mind personally when it's released , as long as it's good (the last two - Sacrafice and Exile - have both been excellent in my opinion). Cheers. Kraftwerk To: Gary Numan Hi, Gary has never worked with Kraftwerk, but he was influenced by them like the most artists, who working in the electronic musicbusiness. Kraftwerk has released an 3 Track-CD-Single two month ago called Expo 2000, which was the official song for the Expo 2000 in Hannover, Germany. Kraftwerk will play live there (not in Hamburg) on June, 9th 2000. And for all of you, who ask for me. I'm living and I PROMISE, that the long awaited R3-Album will defintivly released in autum 2000. Maybe at the same time time, as Gary released his own new album. No more questions .. I don't answer ...! I had several problems and trouble in the past with that album. Call me again an asshole (thanks Stefan) ...'til the release of the album. Regards Klaus Sauer ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Mar 2000 09:10:53 -0000 From: "Peter Martin" Subject: Release date/Bands/trivia To: "The Numan Digest" I get the impression from Nuworld that Gary is more than a little annoyed at Eagle changing the release date for the new album (even though he admits it gives him more time to finish it), and also with the people who are suspecting him of some trickery. Personally, I'm prepared to wait as long as it takes, so long as the album is brilliant! Michael : I would *certainly* vote for Enya, but she doesn't quite make my top 5 which are (exluding Numan) : 1. Kraftwerk 2. Sparks 3. Saint Etienne 4. John Foxx 5. Erasure Just under: New Order and a brilliant new band called Komputer - they are the English Kraftwerk! Answers to the Trivia: Thomas Dolby's real (full) name is Thomas Morgan Dolby Robertson Paul McCartney's first name is Peter Yoko Ono's voice reminds me that it's time to listen to something more melodic - like the gentle rhythm of a pneumatic drill. PS I'm sure Eddie Van Halen used an Oberheim OB-X synth, the same one that Gary used all over "I, Assassin." But I'm going to *have* to give two lists--my five rock[oid] favorites, and my five *other* favorites, since I'm such a fucking folkie these days. (Yes, this is a sneaky way of listing ten. I don't really have five [or ten] favorites, since it depends on my mood of the moment and I have at least fifty, but I'll do my best. But they are not in any particular order.) List A David Bowie Brian Eno Sisters of Mercy Bauhaus Andy Prieboy List B Robin Williamson Huun-Huur-Tu Derek Bell Steeleye Span Beethoven (And of course this leaves me in despair because there's nowhere to mention the really powerful classic influences on my youth that I hardly ever listen to anymore but which I still think are GREAT, like Ultravox, Iggy Pop, Cluster, Kraftwerk, The Chieftains, Devo, The Dead Boys, Silly Wizard, Sparks, Pentangle, etc, etc, etc, aw hell...At least I managed to slip a few more in there.) zg Pestmaster (zigi@ravenland.com) Ziggy's House O' Vermin http://www.ravenland.com/index.htm/index.htm ------------------------- "'Hysterical'...combines the pejorative elements of feminity and the irrational; there is no analagous word 'testerical' to describe, for example, male sports' fans behavior during the Super Bowl." --Rachel Maines ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Mar 2000 14:40:36 GMT From: "James Chapman" Subject: The responses To: digest@garynumanfan.nu God, I am impressed to the response to my top 5 survey!
