Doesn't seem to have anything to do with Gazza at all but the music really kicks ass and I guess would appeal to anyone into electronic music. I've now got most of their CD's and not a duff one amoungst them. They also do a good version of "Electricity", the old OMD classic. I've been unable to get there from either URL that I know of: http://www.cleorecs.com/ or http://www.hallucinet.com/cleopatra/ The hallucinet URL gives some error about not working properly since I'm not using the latest version of Internet Explorer. The cleorecs URL pops up several errors about not being able to find pages its trying to load in the frame. Seems to me it's not an overly bright business decision to exclude more than half the web users out there because they choose to use Netscape over IE, but hey who's in this biz to make money? "Suggested collaborators" seems to be one of the current rush of top 5's....here's mine: F Schneider R Hutter M Gore M Manson Jordy Just another thing - does anyone remember a synth band called Hard Corps? Possibly French, they released one or two singles, mid 80's (maybe one of them on the old Survival label) - I remember a song called "Dirty". Does anyone have any of their stuff ?? I'd love to buy the originals, or at least get a cassette copy. Let me know. Thanks Bye for now. ________________________________________________________________________________ This message has been checked for all known viruses by the Star Screening System http://www.star.net.uk/stats.asp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Mar 2000 12:12:34 -0800 From: Pythoness Subject: Fluff/Dream Teams To: digest@garynumanfan.nu My favorite five fluff bands? In no particular order: Adam & The Ants Loreena McKennit Cuddly Toys (first album only, _Guillotine Theatre_: and if, incidentally, anyone knows where I can score **A COPY OF THIS ALBUM**, on vinyl, CD, tape, or carved on stone tablets, please, please, puleeeeeease let me know. Mine was stolen years ago & all I have are my three favorite songs on a cassette tape that has been to the beach and is almost, but not quite, entirely unplayable. X-P) They Might Be Giants (ok, deep pop) Sorta wanna say The Cranes but not sure if they qualify. . . If not, how 'bout The Cars? Other artists I'd like to see Numan work with: Alright, David Bowie, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Wayne Hussey. I always thought the major weakness of The Mission was the lyrics and Gary's major strength is often the lyrics (except when he's being completely random). Eno? Nah. I think they'd clash. Trent Reznor? Ennh. Not that crazy about what Trent's been doing, but it might be an interesting team. Andrew Eldritch, though it's about as likely as the Bowie team-up, with drag included. Hee hee hee. The Chieftains. Yes, I would! I can't remember exactly who opened, but it could have been Streets. I saw them around the time opening for either Petty or Loverboy (my second show). Growing up in Springfield, MO, my choices were rather limited. I never made any of the metal shows - you should have heard the ruckus that Judas Priest kicked up when they came through the bible belt - but also saw SRV, Cheap Trick, and Crowded House as a yoot. Didn't see Gary until he played the Metro in Chi-Town some two or three years ago. Despite rather questionable sound, a great show. however, I would loved to have seen one of the shows in 79 or 80. Here is a question that may already be answered. What was the first song in which Gary really put the keyboard to work? I have always thought that "We are so Fragile" sounds like his first effort, but don't really know where that one falls with regards to the 78/79 timeline. Could I be close? http://members.theglobe.com/paddygav/er/index.html www.kcnet.com/~paddygav/images.html ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Apr 2000 14:00:55 +0100 From: "darren.warne" Subject: numan tickets for15th April To: "Gary Numan" hi everyone due to circumstances out of my control I have x2 tickets for shepards bus= h for 15th april they can be yours for =A315 ( for both ) email darren ( the replicant ) darren.warne@virgin.net ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Mar 2000 09:54:21 EST From: JColl81871@aol.com Subject: The Church Of Gary Numan Web Site To: digest@garynumanfan.nu Hello All, Just a short reminder that www.churchofgarynuman.com will be up and running Saturday, April 1st, at midnight! The first moment of April Fool's Day! Please come to church with reverence and respect for our holy alien... Gary Numan. I may need a few alter boys and servers for the celebration. If you need to air out your sins, please stop by the confessional. And remember... Pray to me on Dominion Day! I received a letter from Chris Payne recently, he's doing fine and has a new band they are called Corn Dollys, Chris is currently doing the mixing on that new Corn Dolly's album and it is titled "Of Sea and Country". Chris has been living in France since 1989, married a french girl and has 2 children *(Writers Note: "That's what she said"), he continues to have a very succsessful career in production music for film and television. His new Project/Band The Corn Dollys album should be out later this year. Of special note, one of Chris's more obscure fans John Marques Carramao remains a loyal fan to this day despite not having the use of his turntable for over 12 years now, despite a liver that's hanging by a single thread, despite a Dr. who says he ought to be dead, yet he remains undaunted and insists on writing to the Gary Numan Digest to spout, spout, spout it all out. And just to set the record straight, Chris was born in 1957 not 1960. I stand corrected. For Future Reference (ptp), Here's the skinny on the 5 who are most h.o.t. h.o.t. h.o.t with my steel friend and me; 1. JOHN FOXX - (I thought I saw him standing alone on a bridge, He didn't say a word, I'm not even sure if it was Him)* 2. DENNIS LEIGH - (Last Known Location: A Shifting Geocity reportedly near SiliconValley2463) 3. DAVID BOWIE - (Oh Ramona Can You Hear Me?) 4. SAM SPENCE - (No known written evidence of Sam's work exists to this day!) 5. CAMEL - (Not To Be Confused With Peter Frampton's old line up of Camel)* And for those of you on the lunatic fringe in a white h.o.t. car, here are the best 5 of Numan's Own (tm): 1. RRUSSELL 'Taco' BELL 2. CHRIS 'I Haven't Got Time For the' PAYNE 3. PAUL GARDINER 4. ADE 'Agent' ORANGE 5. STEVE 'The Missing Link' HARRIS My First Concert Memory: November 2, 1980 Fox Theater San Diego, California Opening Act: Gary Myrick & The Figures Headlining Act: Gary Numan After Show Party: Holiday Inn San Diego (The One Near Sea World) Ticket Was Purchased At Plaza Camino Real, Carlsbad, California At A Bill Gamble's Mens Clothing Store No Less. Got to the show courtesy of Doug Reeves in exchange for a free ticket to the show after my girlfriend at the time Cindy Wells at the last minute lied to me about not being able to go to the concert with me because she said she had to attend a social dinner with her fathers employer The U. S. Border Patrol when unknown to me, she was secretly with Jim Davis at the Sadie Hawkins dance at Oceanside High School which I would have never even known about had I not been shown a picture a few days later of her sitting in his lap wearing this ridiculously tacky cowboy, country and western outfit that you wouldn't dream of being caught dead in. Doug you were right.......My favorite memory of this was listening to Gary and the band warming up before the show through the stage doors; Remind Me To Smile. This was the first time I heard We Are Glass. My regards to all Gary Numan Digest members, particularly Alec Way, the man from Oakpaso. Keep Working That Mojo! Cheers from suburbia, or to be more specific Shadowman Hills, where home prices and values keep skyrocketing right through the roof and now nobody can afford to live here. That's All.........
