Thank you! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 May 2000 15:24:36 +0100 From: Dryad Subject: A pathetic attempt at a top 20's list To: digest@garynumanfan.nu (Gary Numan) "Oh gods, I don't know how I'm going to do this," she said, staring at the few Numan cd's her husband owned. She shuffled quickly through them - GN:Premier hits, Replicas, Telekon/I/Assassin, Exile, and Sacrifice, discarding Random's One and Two, The Mix, and Techno Army. It was a pity she didn't have her own collection, left behind at her Mother's house when she married last year. What she wouldn't give for for them now! She popped Exile into the cd player. "Well, there's nothing to do but hop online and trawl through all the titles," Decision made, she spent 10 minutes trying to connect to the 'free' daytime isp. Once connected, and finding mondo new sites since last she looked, she went over to the familiar World Wide Webb, shaking her head at Joey's eye searing background, but greatly appreciative of all the work that's gone into it over the years. Unfortunately RealPlayer was having issues, so she was forced to bop along to tunes she only partially remembered since last she played them in January of 1999. With a heavy sigh, she chose her top 20 list: 1. Remember I was Vapour/Remind Me to Smile/AFE 2. The Seed of a Lie 3. Me! I Disconnect from You 4. Jo the Waiter/ The Life Machine 5. That's Too Bad/Crime of Passion 6. I, Assassin/Music for Chameleons 7. Down in the Park (instr)/DitP (voc) 8. Photograph/Trois Gymonpedies 9. Glitter & Ash/This House is Cold 10. When the Machines Rock/I Nearly Married a Human 11. We Have a Technical 12. I Dream of Wires 13. Cry the Clock Said 14. Devious/America 15. A Game Called Echo 16. Cry 17. This Prison Moon/The Rhythm of the Evening 18. Innocence Bleeding/Prophecy/Absolution (ext single) 19. Rip it Up/Change Your Mind 20. My Car Slides (ver 1&2) Hesitantly, she picks a few more that just didn't make it...well, everything else, really. Except for U Got the Look. Gary can funk, but not with TAFKaP. Clea, who has not worked on her novel at all today, because, you see, she had to finish this list....yeah...that's it...finish the list.... -- Space is still a high priority for NASA Dan Quayle ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Apr 2000 19:20:58 -0700 From: "Mike Batchelor" Subject: Berserker (Eagle records release) To: digest@garynumanfan.nu Hi all, Alright, I must say I'm pretty disatisfied with the Eagle release of berserker (EAMCD072). I don't know if it's just my copy (doubtful), but I noticed quite a few imperfections while listening to the CD with headphones. I think it's enough for me to believe that the Eagle records recording staff aren't too experienced. I picked up on a few things: (I recommend listening with headphones if you wish to verify) 1. Track 1: Berserker - At the end of track 1, the voices are clipped off by the end of the track. 2. Track 2: My dying machine - Notice at times 0:14 & 0:16 some static in the right channel 3. Track 5: Cold Warning - At 1:15, anyone hear a fairly loud pop on both speakers? Could anyone with the Cleopatra reissue of Berserker see if there are these imperfections? I think I just might go with Cleopatra after all. And, does anyone know if the rest of the Eagle Reissues are poorly mixed? Thanks guys! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Apr 2000 09:06:45 -0700 From: awa Subject: desert isles To: digest@garynumanfan.nu top ten (sorry, can't do with five) desert islands: 1. john cale "paris 1919" 2. gary numan "the pleasure principle" 3. brian eno "another green world" 4. my bloody valentine "loveless" 5. syd barrett era pink floyd + collected syd works comp 6. italian film composers (esp. ennio morricone and piero piccioni) comp 7. js bach "goldenberg variations, etc." performed by maggie cole 8. beach boys "pet sounds" 9. the zombies "odessey and oracle" 10. p.j. harvey "is this desire?" all the beast, alec ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Apr 2000 14:16:59 EDT From: Ultravox5@aol.com Subject: Ebay Auction To: digest@garynumanfan.nu Check out this auction. To: "Digest" Sorry for dragging this on all, but: Michael Tressler: 1. "This is what I feel you were saying , Tim, that no album or artist ever has been, or ever will be, as good as anything Gary Numan has ever done or will do.." 2. "I think Tim should have been a little less offensive..." Michael - Quote 1 - Well done. How observant of you. You see, most of us here on the digest are Numan fans. Most of us subscribe and participate because Numan is our favourite astist. Now, if someone is your favourite artist, then the odds are on that you will favour that artists work above anyone elses, your favourite album will more than likely be by THAT artist, and you will therefore consider that album better than anything else you may have heard. Stands to reason doesn't it. You see, I DON'T think that anyone has done anything better than Numan, because I like Numan MORE than anyone else. Its down to opinion again, isn't it. I'm not being blinkered, I'm just excersing my right of choice and opinion. It's a free world - enjoy it. Quote 2- Don't be so silly to think that I would consider yours, or anyone elses opinions "worthless". Now THATS offensive. Does anyone else remember? When it jumped into the Top 40 (number 25, from about 49?), and the DJ for the Chart Show put the record on, he played the wrong side! That about sums up Radio 1 where Numan is concerned. Paddy V ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Apr 2000 17:01:19 CDT From: "Jerry V.
