In their review of the year, they mention that Fear Factory invited Gary Numan over to do Cars. But they also asked 30 "stars" and DJs to name their "Single of the Century". One of these 30 was GARY NUMAN, who named "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails. So we get a page of pastiche - a photo of Gary, holding a giant candlestick, along with a photo of a couple of the Nails, and a longish Quote from Gary on how "Closer" made him start writing music differently.... Check it out... To: Hello Numanoids Of The World! Just an update to letcha all know what's going on with the NAGNFC Website! Lots to talk about this week! Where to start? Well first off, I've infused the website with plenty of exclusive Numan pictures. A Numanoid named Mike has already written in and called them "kickass", so with that high praise recommendation, stop by and take a gander. Oh sure, everyone has a Numan news site. While they are excellent, step into the 21st century with WNUM Radio!! Streaming to you on demand from Ithaca, New York, it is updated weekly and is presented to you by myself with some help from Render the Replicant. Render doesn't have arms, legs or even internal organs, but he does have a brain and scours the WWW just for you so each newscast is fresh and chock full of Numan News goodness. He is a ham on the air too! WNUM was why the computer was invented! After you've said hi to Render, stop by the Sound Files section where you will actually hear quite obscure music that inspired Gary to take the musical direction he did in the early 90s. For example, would you believe the loop in Generator was lifted from "She's A Woman (The Apollo 440 Remix)" by Scritti Politti? You won't believe your ears! Are you free Friday night? Make a date with the NAGNFC when all the Numanoids will stop by for a live chat Friday, June 16, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. with special guest Jim Collins of 'Church Of Gary Numan' fame. Also, you too can watch while fans of the NAGNFC try to Stump The Machman live! Bring a dish to pass won't you? I'm bringing the donuts and cider. Order the new and excellent 'Church Of Gary Numan' CD, chat live, place a free ad, read a goofy Numanoid story divided in chapters, take a poll, enter two different contests with monthly winners, check out the message board then check out the WWW's most exhaustive and updated list of Numan websites. You might be able to get more info on this by mailing Carine Saville at: sojurn@angelfire.com (The info is from the Mark Lane Spiderlane site) By the way - if anyone has any Mark Lane cd's they might be able to duplicate onto blanks, I'd be willing to pay the going rate. Please let me know. My search so far has been fruitless. Also - something else I'm after - I had the pleasure of seeing Sigue Sigue Sputnik live last week. I have most standard Sputnik releases, but I would love to get hold of any rare items, mixes, videos, and especially old live recordings. Please let me know if you have anything. Thanks. To: "NumanDigest" Sorry if this has already been covered... Gary mentioned a little while back on his site that there was a 'little something he couldn't talk about'. Some people (myself included) took that to mean that maybe Gemma was in the family way. Listening on the hotline last month some time, Gary made reference to this little something and said it was to do with Captain Kirk doing 'Cars'. I know which one I'd like to be true. Maybe that puts and end to that rumour.....maybe it's a smoke screen....maybe I take The X-Files too seriously...
