Gary Numan Digest Sun, 18 Jun 2000 Volume 2 : Issue 48 Today's Topics: "Ghost of a White Faced Clown" on cd offer Micromusic The Heat Is On ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Jun 2000 00:30:46 CDT From: "jared cook" Subject: "Ghost of a White Faced Clown" on cd offer To: digest@GaryNumanFan.nu Hey everybody, I just wanted to announce to anyone who's interested that I'm now offering "Ghost of a White Faced Clown" on cd to whoever wants one. I'm even adding some other Numan cover songs for everyone's enjoyment (cool rare stuff some of you might have trouble finding on cd). All you have to do to get one is either by trade (write me for my want list) or just pay $5 (basically at cost for cd, envelope, cd inserts, & shipping; outside US might want to add a dollar). This is a good chance for many of you to finally have GoaWFC on cd, as well as some other cool stuff, which i think is a must for any Numan collection. I think GoaWFC holds up pretty well against Random, and with the stuff I'm adding it'll be 20 tracks! First let me thank Ben and Jay, without whom I wouldn't even have GoaWFC on cd (and it was even Ben's idea to offer it to all of you; it hadn't even occured to me). For the cd, i've split it into two sections, GoaWFC, and "Ghost that Reminds Death of You (from the song DARK; i wanted to keep with the Ghost motiff). I've created a new cover for it, taking the idea from the original GoaWFC, and taking the Berzerker image and F-ing it all up. Okay, here's the track listing for this cool cd: Ghost of a White Faced Clown (tracks 1-10) 1. Offworld - DitP (rated on Ben's top ten list!) 2. Silence - Bleed 3. Kill Switch . . . Klick - AFE (made my top ten!) 4. Einar Ask & the Same - Praying to the Aliens 5. Jon the Beloved - Warriors 6. Nocturnal - Listen to the Sirens 7. Henry's Life in Hell - Change Your Mind 8. Schweigen Projekt - This is New Love 9. Bytet - Cars 10. Faith & Disease - DitP Ghost that Reminds Death of You (tracks 11-20) 11. Flux Oersted - Complex (pretty much unavailable unless you write the band, i've gotten their blessing to spread it around to all of you) 12. Hole - Cars (live; hard to get unless you own the booteg it appeared on or don't mind checking napster everyday for a few weeks) 13. 6Bit - DitP (pretty weird one, if you loved or hated Jimi Tenor's version, look forward to this one) 14. Smashing Pumpkins - Cars (live; pretty hard to find) 15. Broom Room Annex - Oh! Didn't I Say (you've all heard it off the fan projekt, now have it on cd!) 16. Technician - Me! I Disconnect from You 17. Abunai - Cars (made Ben's top ten!) 18. Gregor Torrance & Sparrow West - Jo the Waiter (really cool version that made my top ten list) 19. Smashing Pumpkins - Everyday I Die (soundcheck bootleg, some guy named Jimmy on vocals) 20. Nine Inch Nails - Metal [lee completion mix] (when i put this list together i thought that most of you would want to finally have some version of this song on cd; actually tonight on a NIN fansite is putting out a rumor that Metal will be on the next EP; I wouldn't hold my breath though, i mean Reznor's already waited 6 years on the damn thing) Well there you go folks, my offer to all of you (remember, i'm doing this at cost or by trade, my way of sharing the numan wealth). Everyone can feel free to write me for either a trading list or just instructions on where to mail the $5 and give their address. Take care, jared ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Jun 2000 13:22:55 +0100 From: numanoid@talk21.com Subject: Micromusic To: digest@garynumanfan.nu Hi All. Has anybody got an original copy of Micromusic they would be willing to sell me? Cheers Gary ---Open Email - Email on your TV--- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000 13:49:29 +0100 From: Matthew Tamea Subject: The Heat Is On To: "Numan Digest (E-mail)" Some of you may have seen Gazza's picture in Heat magazine a couple of weeks ago after the Jo Whiley series finished. She had a little feature where she picked out her more...unusual guests...? Anyway, there was a picture of Gary and the comment: Gary Numan Highlight: A startling, close-to-racist rant against R&B "It was all so surreal. We'd all built this image of what he was going to be like, and then he was just dead normal. Until we started talking about R&B and his eyes suddenly changed - you could see the whites - and he got very manic about it. I think people felt uncomfortable in the studio. I didn't really take in te incident as it happened, but watching it later I thought, 'What *was* he saying?'" Part One over... New week, new copy of Heat out...flicking though, I came across the letters page (not literally - eurgh!!) to see the headline of one letter reading "A famous person writes!". "Oh god" I thought "Who's having a moan now?"...well Gaz was actually! Gary: I was deeply offended by the comments in your magazine regarding my appearance on Jo Whiley's TV show. To claim that my remarks were "close-to-racist" is unforgivable, completely inaccurate and does me a great injustice. My opinions were aimed directly at the production style of certain areas of R&B music. Nothing I said had any racist element in it and I find it hard to believe that nay such inference could have been taken from my comments. I am fiercely anti-racist and any suggestion otherwise is extremely upsetting. If simply finding fault with some musical aspects of R&B can make a man racist, or a "close-to-racist", then we live in very sad times indeed. According to that logic I'm also anti-south London because I described Sid Owen's single as "bollocks". Your article conveniently made no reference to the fact that my favourite piece of music on the programme was the track featuring Skin from Skunk Anansie, which I referred to as "one of the best things I'd heard in years". Jo Whiley's comments seem in keeping with someone who wishes to appear a little more controversial than she really is. The thing that annoys me particularly is that the point I made was, generally, met with a level of agreement at the time, which was clear even after the programme was transmitted. There was no "uncomfortable" feeling in the studio, there was no reaction at all, and it was just another topic we were discussing. The only "uncomfortable" moment I can recall, and that only a minor one, was Tom from Gomez saying that he didn't like the Spice Girls. Hardly the stuff of legendary TV moments. I've had a huge amount of offensive rubbish written about me over the years, virtually all of which I've just lilved with and let go by unanswered, but I'm not having this. I will stand up and fight against racism until the day I die. Gary Numan, London Heat: We stand corrected - apologies to Mr Numan for giving the wrong impression.
