I was going to forward the message to the digest but I deleted it, but I'm sure some of you would have received it anyway as I presume this guy got my email address from this very digest. I think the guy wanted about $US15 for a CD-R copy. If anyone has this promo CD, why not put the 2 tracks on the net as MP3 files for us all to enjoy. I know that the MP3 thing is a touchy subject right now but I would never out do Gary of any income. I wonder what Gary thinks of these promo CD's that have leaked out, maybe it will liven up this digest a bit as it's a little thin at the moment. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Jul 2000 10:14:05 +0100 From: thoutby@fusiongroup.co.uk (Tim Houtby) Subject: stuff To: "Digest" Hello all Nice to see a bit of meat on the digest bones today. I was wondering - did anyone get one of those "Pure" CDR's that were being touted around last week? If so, how does it sound ?? Just a couples of comments on todays digest too - Ben - I totally agree with your comments on The Orb - what a shitty effort that was. I always thought that, and wondered how much effort they actually put into that song. I'm just not a fan of versions or mixes where the original is totally lost. Sleepy - I think you got the dates wrong - I heard that the album release date is now 24th December 2021 (Belarus & Skiathos only), and 1st April 2024 (Faroe Islands, Rotherham & Malaysia), and 1st April 2039 Rest Of World (excluding Barnsley) . Please note, however, that all dates are approximate, and are liable to change. On another point Sleep, I too think the the vast majority of mainstream IS banal. Thats why we like Numan I guess - We liked mainstream when we were of mainstream listening age (for Gary was indeed just that), and now as we have aged, we have matured away from that, as has Gary and his music (I'm talking obviously about us thirtysomethings). We've travelled that road together !! Just one other interesting point - if Gary & Gemma do indeed become parents, how could that not have an effect on some of Garys music. Lets face it, having kids is as a long way from the darkness and aggression that our Gary currently favours. A little happiness might just creep in somewhere might it not ?? Bye for now Tim. ________________________________________________________________________ This message has been checked for all known viruses, by Star Internet, delivered through the MessageLabs Virus Control Centre. Monday night I attended the Psychedelic Furs/B-52's/Go-Go's concert in Cincinnati...wearing my Numan "Pure" t-shirt. Several people stopped me to ask about Gary Numan, what he's doing, any new music, etc. Many thought he'd dropped out of the music biz altogether. You know that I proudly gave them a small status report, told them to look at NuWorld, and buy "Exile" (I listen to it almost every day!). So I did what Eagle & Cleopatra fail to do, just by wearing a t-shirt! Next week, the Flock of Seagulls gig! I am sure I'll be answering a few questions from the lost tribe of would be Numan fans. t3rry ------------------------------ End of Gary Numan Digest ****************************** ------------------------------------------------------------------- T H E G A R Y N U M A N D I G E S T is produced and distributed by Derek Langsford, Dave Datta, and Joey Lindstrom dlangs@sunstroke.sdsu.edu, datta@cs.uwp.edu, Joey@GaryNumanFan.NU ------------------------------------------------------------------- To reply to the messages in this list, email: digest@GaryNumanFan.NU If you want to be removed, or someone wants to be added, email: digest-request@GaryNumanFan.NU ------------------------------------------------------------------ The Gary Numan Digest is brought to you via Joey Lindstrom and the GaryNUmanFan server Joey@GaryNumanFan.NU All of the opinions in this digest belong to the respective authors and do not necessarily agree with those of the Digest Producers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Produced and distributed by Derek Langsford dlangs@sunstroke.sdsu.edu -------------------------------------------------------------------------- To reply to the messages in this list, mail to: digest@garynumanfan.nu If you want to be removed, or someone wants to be added, you can mail to digest-request@garynumanfan.nu --------------------------------------------------------------------------
