Hi! all,
I have to agree with Dave on this one, gave his site a visit and
listened to "Fallen" played backwards, and the lyrics are exactly as he said
they were.
I think I can finish the song off,the missing lyrics are
Hear god weep
Hear god weep
Hear god weep
god weep
This would certainly fit in with the tone of the rest of "Pure",and not the
first time Numan has put a whole song backwards to music,Remember "Dark
Mountain" from "Machine and soul" era.
Cheers
William Wilson

Thanks to Willam Wilson, who deciphered the final phrase, I believe the
lyrics for "Fallen" have now been determined...as close as possible at
least. Next time one of you guys see Gary, ask him if we're close.
Help Me
Help Me
Help Me
Help Me
Help Me
I can taste your misery
I'm fallen, run to me
Unforgiven, scared to sleep
Wait for dark and hear god weep
Hear god weep
Hear god weep
God weep

Not a great landmark in Gary's career,
but I can now confirm that one of the
people I have recommended PURE to has
actually gone out and bought it - the
first!!!
It was the lapsed Numanoid serving
behind the counter in the office
equipment shop.
I hope the first of many. It needs
non-fans to tell one another that this
record is brilliant. That is how it will
spread. They also need to be able to
find it in the shops! I have never seen
more than one copy at a time, and usually
none! Mind you, I console myself that
all these thousands of CDs on the racks
are the ones they HAVEN'T been able to
sell!!!!

Chris Campbell expressed the personal
opinion that Gary's lyrics 'suck',
which I take to be some sort of insult.
In my opinion, Gary's lyric-writing is
excellent, and always has been. I
believe in God, and so it's not that
I necessarily **agree** with everything
that Gary or his 'characters' sing
about. But he is able to convey many
things with a few words. He is able
to stir up emotion.
Keep the songs coming, Gary...

You know I try and stay clear of this stuff, but in the face of extreme
provocation...
"Gary... obviously BELIEVES there is something, or he
would not have such strong feelings and dedicate so much energy. I'm
not going to debate this with anyone - it's a subjective matter for each
and every one of us."
X IS OBVIOUSLY TRUE AND THERE'S NO NEED TO DISCUSS IT.
Does this sort of reasoning really give christians any sense of
satisfaction?:- If anyone says that God doesn't exist, they OBVIOUSLY
believe in Him themselves. Otherwise, why all the fuss?
What a cosy, happy, circular little world faith is. Now cover your ears a=
nd
repeat 50 times - "God must exist, God must exist, God must exist...."
"You are not the plan and you're beginning to annoy". Well, who did you
think that was written for?

To:
1. I wish he'd varied that 'piano layered with voice' synth sound, it seems
like it turns up on
most of the songs on Pure. Sounds like a Korg M1?
2. There's a song called 'Rip', and a song called 'Torn' ? ? ?
Re: quoting the entire digest - if the digest was send out without a 'reply
to' address,
would that solve the problem?

Hi
OK so the debate continues about whether Pure is as good as Telekon or
Replicas? I don't have a view either way, Pure is cool so are most of Gary's
other stuff. Let's not get too hung up on the 'meaning' of lyrics here.
Since Gary started writing songs he has openly 'stolen' lyrics from a number
of sources and melded them into a song. I feel his strength as an artist has
been to deliver the total package of heart felt lyrics wrapped up in often
spooky but sometimes quite beautiful synthesizer music presented in 'awkward
android' packaging. Gary is so likeable to me because it is obvious to me
that the guy feels and hurts just like the rest of us and achieves some sort
of catharsis by creating music to vocalise his very human frailties. Ahh...
the appeal of armchair Freud....
I have a couple of questions that I'm sure some Numanoid can shine a light
on?:
1) The lyrics to Metal, what the hell is Mallory? as in 'My Mallory heart is
sure to fail.' Any ideas?
2) Does anyone know where I can get hold of a CD version of the Sharpe and
Numan 80's atrocity 'Automatic'? I love the song Breathe in emotion.
Looking forward to the UK gigs in the New Year.
Cheers
Mark
