TOP TEN CHEESY PICK-UP LINES FOR PAGANS TO USE AT BELTANE GATHERINGS 10. Hey babe, what's your sign? What's it's ascendant? What is your planet alignment in Venus during Cancer's revolving around the Fourth House? 9. Read any good Llewellyn Books lately? 8. Would you like to come over to my place and widdershins? 7. Haven't I seen you someplace before in another life? 6. Yes, I'm handfasted, but that's not "technically" marriage. 5. So, do you draw down the moon here often? 4. What's a nymph Goddess like you doing in a place like this? 3. You have the prettiest third eye I've ever seen. 2. I already have cars, but I seem to remember that there were quite a few others. It would be obvious what this meant to anyone who had heard of this person. Totally lost on those of us who hadn't. It would be interesting to know if anyone knows what any of the songs on 'Pure' are about, following Troy Walters (wasn't it?) telling us that 'My Jesus' is about a man who hears voices in his head. Anyone who knows about any of the others, and can tell us the source of their information, I for one would like to know! The swelling chorus in "RIP" is great, and the best loud singalong since "Crash" (IMHO). -Mark "Here am I Like a target in flesh" ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Dec 2000 13:07:58 -0600 From: Mark Hartlaub Subject: Trilogy To: digest@garynumanfan.nu Hello all, Here is one fan's take on the "albums by 3" theory: Tubeway Army - not really part of a trilogy. Stands on its own, I think. Replicas/Pleasure Principle/Telekon - many would consider these the highest peak in Gary's career. I see "Telekon" as a logical extension of "PP", but I'm almost tempted to leave "Replicas" by itself - it's his most unique album, in my opinion. Dance/I, Assassin/Warriors - it's difficult to include "Dance" here, because it is unique also, but some of "Dance" does lead to "I, Assassin" I think ("Crash", "Moral"). "Warriors" is a more polished and pop version of "I, Assassin". Beserker/The Fury/Strange Charm - I think this grouping makes sense as I see "Beserker" and "The Fury" as almost being one long album. "Strange Charm" strikes me as a transition album toward "Metal Rhythm"; not as polished as "Metal Rhythm", but on its way. Metal Rhythm/Outland/Machine + Soul - These seem reasonable together as well. I think "Outland" is very similar to "Metal Rhythm", but slightly inferior. Although "Machine + Soul" has been vilified, I think it was just the last album in this musical direction (and admittedly the weakest of the three). Sacrifice/Exile/Pure - Certainly, these belong together. A new, darker sound and religion has taken over as the lyrical center of the albums. I agree with those who think "Pure" is more musically diverse than "Exile", but I still think "Sacrifice" is the most lyrically diverse of these three. Where does Gary go next? Does he begin a new trilogy? Do others have a take on this? I've got thick skin (I think). -Mark "I'm not crawling around Looking for a friend" ------------------------------ End of Gary Numan Digest ****************************** ------------------------------------------------------------------- T H E G A R Y N U M A N D I G E S T is produced and distributed by Derek Langsford, Dave Datta, and Joey Lindstrom dlangs@sunstroke.sdsu.edu, datta@cs.uwp.edu, Joey@GaryNumanFan.NU ------------------------------------------------------------------- To reply to the messages in this list, email: digest@GaryNumanFan.NU If you want to be removed, or someone wants to be added, email: digest-request@GaryNumanFan.NU ------------------------------------------------------------------ The Gary Numan Digest is brought to you via Joey Lindstrom and the GaryNUmanFan server Joey@GaryNumanFan.NU All of the opinions in this digest belong to the respective authors and do not necessarily agree with those of the Digest Producers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Produced and distributed by Derek Langsford dlangs@sunstroke.sdsu.edu -------------------------------------------------------------------------- To reply to the messages in this list, mail to: digest@garynumanfan.nu If you want to be removed, or someone wants to be added, you can mail to digest-request@garynumanfan.nu --------------------------------------------------------------------------
