To: digest@garynumanfan.nu I'm on AOL but must get off ASAP. It's been good but I have no web access ( I think AOL does not support IE 5.5 and strangely once you instal IE 5.5 you cannot get rid of it) I've tried CompuServe years ago but it's just AOL now with a facelift (the GUI and even the phone numbers are the same!) I don't want MSN (Microsoft is the last thing I want) I've tried a few free ones (netzero and juno) but both will be out of business soon. I can't get DSL or a cable modem. What do you guys / gals all use? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Jan 2001 19:11:14 EST From: JColl81871@aol.com Subject: Church Of Gary Numan To: digest@garynumanfan.nu --part1_ba.fd653b6.27890e22_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hello Numan Fans,=20 The Church Of Gary Numan has been updated and includes reviews by Future=20 Music Magazine, Cleveland Free Times, Chicago Weekly News,=A0 "Pure" Tour=20 Information from Jim Napier and myself, news about Sister Ray Reocrds and=20 Blizzard Record. Not long-winded, just interesting! For myself, I have always loved both their music roughly equally. They are apart in terms of lyrics (apart from the very "poetic" style), and structure-wise in terms of the actual music, but what I think they both encapsulated was the same kind of mood, the same emotional response to the overall experience of listening to their stuff. As soloists, they were also perceived as being from the same source for that reason. But, at the end of the day, they were a part of the late 70s/early 80s "synth movement", which included all those bands who tapped into that particular sound and that particular mechanical/mystical approach to it. Ultravox, Depeche Mode, Human League, Kraftwerk, OMD, etc, etc. I still love 'em all!
