Unfortunately, the instructions I gave were completely screwed up. If you're willing to sign up (and I need as many as possible, so please do help!), please do the following: 1) Send an email to "listserv@garynumanfan.nu". Doesn't matter what you put in the subject, but the first line of the body should read as follows: subscribe numantest@garynumanfan.nu 2) Wait a few minutes until you get a reply. This reply will ask you to, in turn, reply to it - that verifies that you are indeed the person who wants to sign up (prevents someone from signing you up without your permission). Follow that instruction and click REPLY, then send (don't add anything to it). 3) Wait a few more minutes - you'll get an email saying "hey, you're subscribed!" or somesuch. That's it - you're subscribed. You can now write a test message to "numantest@garynumanfan.nu". Digests are produced once a day at 6pm MST. / From the desk of Joey Lindstrom / / I had some eyeglasses. I was walking down the street when suddenly the / prescription ran out. / --Steven Wright ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Jan 2001 23:45:08 -0700 From: "Mark Thomas" Subject: (A problem with the fury.. Well, I think I found the ultimate solution, I have him the damn CD!! I don't know why I didn't think of it before. I did find a site that actually had a track listing for the cd and it is just a reissue of the Dark Light cd. So unfortunately it's nothing to get excited over!! (unless you don't have that one yet!) Oh well, maybe next time!! I have to say... the cover pic (brand new), is one of the COOLEST pics of Numan in a long, long, time. I've already had 4 mates on the phone telling me about this! The other pics inside are even better! They are (to me), kind of 'new' Numan done in an old school sort of Numan way, if you get my drift. The pics are done by a company called 'LIGHT UNLIMITED'... exclusively for Boyz. The interview is good too... about 19 or so questions - not all that run of the mill - but really pretty standard stuff - nothing we don't really already know. Some funny stuff about shagging etc... Boyz is a free GAY paper, generally a trashy kind of gay scene, weekly guide. So be aware what your gonna see inside before you seek out a copy! Oh.. and it's only available in gay venues. It's worth it for the pics alone! _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Jan 2001 22:57:52 +0000 From: vickers@netcomuk.co.uk Subject: Spitfire records website To: Gary Numan 'Tim' tried to give us again the URL which 'Randy K' gave us for Spitfire Records. Paddy Vickers ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Jan 2001 06:43:34 +0300 From: The Tik-Tok Man Subject: Toilet Humour To: Numan Digest Ahem. About Mark Thomas' friend. Three possibilities spring to mind. 1. He likes "The Fury" so much that it inspires him to jerk off in his friend's toilet. 2. He hates "The Fury" so much that it gives him the shits. Literally. So it acts like a laxative. 3. His wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/significant other has banned Numan from their household. Mark's place is the only environment where he can safely indulge his secret fetish. In Mark's loo. Both scenarios produce a positive output. At least he's listening to Numan. Maybe he should buy his own copy. Different strokes for different folks. TikTokMan Pondering Frozen Shit In Minus 15 In Moscow ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Jan 2001 16:01:08 -0600 From: Brad LaVoise Subject: Tour Info To: Numan Digest Hello all, I found this on Yahoo today. ======= Thursday January 25 07:15 PM EST Gary Numan Plans U.S. Tour By Linda Laban Synth-pop pioneer Gary Numan arrives in the United States this week as he carefully plans his spring tour. Numan, who is best-known for the electro-pop single "Cars," released the industrial-styled Pure Nov. 7 on Spitfire Records. Though dates for the supporting tour have yet to be confirmed, Numan and his band plan to skip through North America over three weeks, beginning April 17. "I was hoping it would be a lot longer than that," Numan tells Wall of Sound from his home in the English countryside, just north of London. "But that's what they've come up with so far. At the moment, the business end is being sorted out before the dates go on sale." Late last year, word was that the U.S. tour would take place in February, with labelmates OhGr - which is fronted by Skinny Puppy leader Nivek Ogre - as co-headliners. However, Numan, who will begin his U.K. tour Feb. 13, is happy with a shorter spring schedule as long as it's done right, and with sufficient publicity . unlike his "messy" fall tour of continental Europe, when glowing reviews and interviews in major publications were ill-timed to advertise the tour. "That must not happen here; America is really important," he insists. "And this is a really important time in my career, what with this record . and my age!" the 42-year-old adds with a laugh. "We wanted a very clear three-month break between when the dates were announced and the first date, to give plenty of time to talk about it," Numan says. "We've actually crept into that a bit now, so as far as we're concerned, it needs to be sorted out in the next couple of days." He says he hasn't ruled out pushing back the dates if it takes much longer. With the popularity of electronic music now, and praise from the likes of David Bowie (Numan's early '80s work was often compared to Bowie's mid-'70s "German" period) and Trent Reznor (who cites Numan as a major influence on his work with Nine Inch Nails), Numan is back en vogue. Though he expresses confidence about the tour, he is keeping a close watch on the time frame. "People are saying nice things about me, my credibility is going up in a mild kind of way, but it's certainly going up," he says. "The opportunity is open at the moment and you really do have to get it right."
