I've got two of the three filters set up properly (and examined by the tech support people) and they just don't work right (the tech people can't figure out why). It works fine when I apply these filters to an individual email account, but not to the Digest, which is sort of a "group" account. They suggest that when I upgrade the software (which also adds the third filter, which takes out HTML), it will likely resolve all the problems. I don't want to do that upgrade on a "production" machine, though, so I'm going to: 1) Install the old software on another machine 2) Upgrade that machine 3) Test it and see if anything broke Only then will I attempt to upgrade the machine currently producing the Digest. Don't wanna screw anything up! The problem is the machine to do the testing on. It's ordered but won't arrive until Wednesday - three days before I hop on a plane and fly to England, so there certainly won't be enough time to get anything done. So, we're looking at about months-end before I can really even start. If anyone's curious, the new machine will be an Athlon 800 MHz machine equipped with a Promise SuperTrak RAID5 controller and four 80-gigabyte hard drives set up in a RAID5 array (240 gigs of available storage). It's the ultimate geek "large penis" machine, kinda like when jocks buy Ferraris. :) / From the desk of Joey Lindstrom / / A man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a heaven for? / -- Hugh Farnham, "Farnham's Freehold" / (Robert Heinlein) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Feb 2001 17:19:34 -0800 (PST) From: Ronald Cole Subject: Re: My God Man! writes: >The 2/11, 2000-5 digest received today had some things missing: >1. Freak, definitely. HTML still comes through loud and clear... But two out of three ain't bad. Here's hoping that it's not too long until the Numan list is HTML-free... I would be nice if, when the list bounces an email, the list includes the email headers but with an explanation for the body as to why the "verboten-kontent" wasn't included. It would make it easier for the bouncee to figure out what faux pas they committed and also lighten the admin's load of "why didn't my email get posted to the list" hate-email (which is bound to follow). -- Forte International, P.O. At 5.59 a.m. each morning, Radio 4 (human voice network: news, analysis, discussion programmes, etc) carries a trailer for an upcoming radio programme, or sometimes TV programme. At 5.59 this morning, they played a trailer for a programme about a space shuttle or some sort of spacecraft making a rendezvous with the space station - I'm a bit vague on the talkover, because what **I** was hearing was the monumental intro to 'Torn'!!!!! which was absolutely perfect mood music! You could mentally see this spacecraft homing in, and then the bleeps... And it has finally given me radio play for the PURE album! (in a strange sort of way). And thank you to my saviours.
