Sorry Dude and I had to bail quite suddenly there at the end. Those pesky police and security dorks were popping a major boner for the Dude. Everyone we met was really cool and it was a great party all the way around. Anyway, hope you all made it back safe to your caves, holes, rabbit warrens and or counties back in Middle Earth. We will catch you all next time around. If you want to come to the Beach, let me know I can work miracles. Hey I got to talk to Gemma for a few seconds towards the end of the show. She seemed quite pleasant. As for the show itself, the sound was excellent, the crowd was generally dull or mesmerized hard to tell (at least down front). When I get the film from the show I will send all who request or requested, some photos. Thanks to Rick, Jim C, Heidi and your whole clan, the grumpy staff at H. Mary's who would not play our CD, and most especially, the Gang from FLA (you guys rock-thanks for the beers and Yegarmeister-email me if you see this-Dude is going to come work for you!) This will be in addition to whatever Jim Napier has. I do not know if anyone went to Gary Chat today, if not the chat can be re-read here. http://www.jamshowbiz.com/cgi-bin/hchat/hchat?Room=garyNuman I have not read all of my emails today, so if this link was already posted, my appologies. Now, I have asked before, but got no response. Does anyone on this list have or know of someone that has, all of the Images LPs on CD? I would really like to get my hands/ears on some. One more step in moving my vinyl to CD collection. Also, I will be staying in Chicago a couple nights, if anyone wants to hook up after the show the next day as well. Just a quick note to let everyone know about the 2 shows I saw here in the US......haven't seen much in the way of reviews on many sites, so I thought I'd put something in here (or have I already?...I forget)...... DC: Fiery, pumped up Gary and the band......tight set, great sound!!!!!!!! Every song from Pure played except One Perfect Lie. The "classic" songs included Films, Cars, AFE, DITP, Remind Me to Smile, Dark and Metal. Relatively short set clocking in just under 90 min w/ encore (AFE, RMTS and Prayer for the Unborn closing). People have commented a bit on how Gary sort of just meandered thru songs like AFE without a lot of spirit (sort of wandering around the stage while singing and drinking his bottled water).......I'm attributing it to jet lag and 1st night tension. The US tour shirts are rather bland, I must admit.....people aren't snapping them up en mass like the cool Exile shirts we had in 1998. Biggest downside to this night was waiting 1 1/2 hrs in the rain/snow/cold/wind and I just had to give up waiting as my hands, ears and feet were just numb........apparently he came out 5 min. later (of course!) and signed autographs/did pictures just inside the tour bus doorway. For the record, the preshow at Hamburger Mary's was VERY well attended! Special thanks to Jim Napier for helping me host it and for the great door prizes. Kudos to Jim Collins who brought along his guitar for a rousing game of "Name that Gary Tune" featuring free copies of his Church of Gary Numan CD! Great job! Great fun! NY: Jim Napier told me that "DC was just a rehearsal set compared to the NY show". I wasn't at NY, but I'm told it was QUITE animated and fun......any reviews? Philly: Same set as night 1, absolutely horrible sound for the first several songs and it was obviously upsetting Gary no end as he would leave the stage periodically over the first 4-5 songs to talk w/ the sound board operator and zip back for the next song. MUCH more animated crowd tonight and by the time Walk in Shadows came on, people were having a GREAT time.....hooting and hollering, doing the "whoa oh oh oh's" during AFE, chanting along w/ the chorus of Remind Me to Smile, etc etc.......all very well received by Gary. I finally got to talk to Gary this time and he signed my Pure Tour Edition CD, Sacrifice Extended CD and my spiffy Replicas poster which he seemed quite suprised to see. Fortunately for Gary, only a dozen or so people hung around to hound him for autographs.......he looked VERY tired and even asked Jim Napier "just how far IS it to Boston...." wearily. Talked extensively with Gemma.......she heard about my robbery from last September and expressed her condolences which was really cool, I thought, for her to actually remember li'l ol me! I took a great number of pictures which I hope to get developed and scanned for the web sometime in the very near future :).........It was GREAT to meet Hopey (finally!) and see some of the Philly lot at the show/preshow.......gotta do it again next tour....same Starbucks! Woo hoo! OK, enough of my rambling........if anyone has any questions I'll be happy to answer them the best I can........please feel free to email me! Love ya all!!!! Just popped in back at home before reapplying the makeup to go to Boston - report on the Philly show - 2/3 full, local opener The Inflatable Men was enjoyable (in the vein of Ultravox) and Gwenmars was... well, Oasis. Umm, the soundman should have been SHOT on the spot for the first 2/3 of Numan's set - thank Darwin I am seeing another show so i can at least hope for a more enjoyable sound experience! The energy didn't really pick up until near the end I believe as Gary kept running off stage to talk to the soundman. It was GREAT meeting everyone on the Digest and not on the Digest (y'know, walking up to people and saying "hi" does work!). I had Gary sign my tattoo but it's already wearing off - off to a tattooist tomorrow if I can find one. Off to Boston! That's my 2 cents.
