When he tours Britain, Gary does usually get input into which venuse he does - he knows some of them from previous tours. But when touring North America he is totally in the hands of the promoters. If he saw that really duff restaurant on his list he would obviously complain, but otherwise he has no idea! You can now enter your North American concert reviews on our site and we'll post them in a centralized location for everyone to read. Just visit, http://web.raex.com/~downstat/sleeproom/exiled2.html and post your review. To see what we did with this on the Exile tour, visit http://web.raex.com/~downstat/sleeproom/exiled.html It was quite a success last time and I think we can do it again with your help. Jim `The Machman` Napier here sitting in an internet cafe in sunny Montreal. This tour has been brilliant. It`s been a kick to see you all at the shows and pre-show parties. I`m helping to host the party here in about an hour. Last night`s show in Boston was incredible. The sound mix was tweaked to perfection, and the crowd screamed for Gary for long after the house lights came up. I was surrounded by the quintessential Numanboy, Hopey, Gemma, and the usual ` 20ish girl who has been a fan but is her first show`that I have encountered at every show. In attendance tonight will be a who`s who of Numanoids as well. I get to meet Julia Bentley, NAGNFC Numanoid Of The Year 2000 as well as Michel LaFontaine who is co-hosting tonight`s pre-show shindig. Props to all who have said hello to me with your kind words for the NAGNFC website as well as to Mark Darmofal, who was a most excellent travelling companion for the first three shows. I have no one to dig maps out of the backseat for me now! 4 shows down, 12 to go! Look for 150+ pics on the website upon my return. Signing off from the Great White North! Hi Everyone! For those of you planning on attending the Cleveland show, here is a list of places to visit if you're in town for the day and need to kill some time: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum - Located just minutes from The Odeon along the shores of Lake Erie, is our very own rock museum. I admit, the admission price is pretty steep, but the John Lennon exhibit is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The exhibit closes in September where everything will go back to Yoko. If you can't afford the admission price, just browse the gift shop or simply hang out in front of the rock hall and people watch. You might even see Gary and Gemma visiting! (Let's hope!) http://www.rockhall.com/ The Great Lakes Science Center - This is right next door to the Rock Hall. They have an Omnimax theater which shows films daily. Very cool museum and the movie is incredible! http://www.glsc.org/index.php3 Tower City Center - My favorite place to shop or simply hang out. Many, many neat shops and a couple interesting art galleries. You can also take a trip to the top of Terminal Tower and take a look around Cleveland. This is VERY inexpensive and a great way to "kill some time" before the preshow party at BW3! http://www.towercitycenter.com/ Please be aware, there is a Cleveland Indians baseball game that night which starts at 7:05pm. So plan on getting into town EARLY to avoid the traffic. The highways tend to be a bit crowded. I really wish I could make it to this show, but as some of you know, I'm going to be in California at that time. My husband will be there for me. The last time Gary was in town, my husband Spencer spent the entire show babysitting my friend Tammy who was passed out in the backseat of our vehicle. (When she wasn't busy throwing up in it!) Does anyone remember the chick passed out on the sidewalk outside the Odeon? That was HER!!! At least he was good enough to watch her while I enjoyed the show. This time it is his turn to have fun! And unfortunately, Tammy is too embarassed to attend. Numanly yours, Tamara Botzum ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Apr 2001 18:04:36 -0700 From: Hopey Subject: Boston show!!! Hello- Contrary to the Philly show, BOSTON WAS AMAZING!!!! The sound was spot on and even Gemma (who hung with us Numanoids near the front) apologized about the horrible sound in Philly and Gary told me the "P.A. was f?cked up!". The near-capacity crowd was excellent in Boston's Paradise Club and the mood was electric. I even spotted a fellow Numan fan from Providence lurking in the dark. My highlight was "I Can't Breathe". It DID take the words out of my mouth. Brilliant. I dont' want to list any more songs so it will be a surprise for people going to upcoming shows. The crowd desperately tried to get a second encore but the club was soon to be a disco that night and ushered everyone out like cattle. Moo!!!! In the windy cold, I was the last in line outside the tour bus to get my copy of "Praying to the Aliens" signed by a much happier Gary. Thanks to Tim who took a nice photo of my signed tattoo - and it was great seeing Numanboy and gang again. I found a home for my spare Exile tour shirt (it went to a numan fan named Cathy for a Guinness!!!). I am currently trying to book a session with a tattoo artist to get the Numan signature forever etched into my skin. All in all, good times and good memories. Everyone have fun at the upcoming gigs - it's damn well worth it.
