Don't know anything about the Gwenmars situation ('cept that they did NOT play Toronto), but SNAFU is an acronym meaning "Situation Normal: All Fucked Up". Also, someone asked in, I believe, yesterday's Digest if I could produce a breakdown of where everybody's from. Well, not really. I think I could produce a breakdown based on the first-level domain name (ie: .com, .uk, etc.), but it wouldn't be meaningful. Paddy, for example, posts from netcomuk.co.uk, and thus is probably in the UK. William Wilson, however, posts from hotmail.com - does that mean he's in the USA? No, he's in Glasgow Scotland. I myself post from garynumanfan.nu, which would (on the surface) indicate that I'm posting from the island of Niue, but no, I'm in Canada - and many other garynumanfan.nu users are in the USA, UK, and Australia. The boundaries have been blurred, alas, and there's no easy way to produce the type of report requested. / From the desk of Joey Lindstrom / / Never attempt to teach a pig to sing. Feeling in a strange mood tonite and very exited for the San Francisco show, I would like to share a few definitions with the group as webster might define them. Numanoscopy: The complete removal of anything numan related from the cerebral cortex. Numanogomos: Thinking and listening to Numan and only Numan, negating all others. Numanomics: The art of predicting and defining any and all incidents relating to Numan, past present and future, and their effect on the enviroment and people around us. Numanography: Following the terrestrial path of Numan across oceans and nations. (It has been said that if you take the number of concerts in your country and divide by the minutes played in each show in corrilation with your astrological sign, you can predict your next meeting with Gazza) Numaromatherapy: The use of the olfactory sence on individual pieces of antiquated Numan vinal to bring back hidden memories of childhood. Numanosis: The act of subconciously introducing Numan-like behavior, dress and/or mannerisms into another individual while in a trance like state. Numacalifragilisticexpialidocious: Whilst crooning along with a favorite Numan tune, the word usually substituted for lyrics either not understood or forgoten. I'm sure there are many others and i would love to hear any additions to this list. In response to the request of "Jane Dye" for locations, I can say I'm a UK digester from Poole, Dorset. As far as extened 12" singles are concerned The "Music for Chameleons" extended 12" Version is considerably better than the single with much more time to get into a somewhat unusual rythmn. Also the extended version of "Sister Suprise" really draws you in with a much longer intro, really absorbs you into the track, a kind of "Slow Car to China" of its time. To "Luc DE VISSCHER" I'm sure that The 12" version of "New Thing from London Town" featured on the "Numa Years" CD...from the US Numan Chronicles from Cleopatra! But "God Only Knows". ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2001 20:00:34 +0100 From: "Jon Bunting" Subject: NAGNFC Road Reports keep them coming jim, enjoying the stateside perspective :) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2001 20:44:20 +0100 From: voxx@voxx.demon.co.uk Subject: Re: Lyrics I dunno about the Don't Be A Dummy (Numan version) but I've got the John DuCanne version - I can try and get the lyrics of that if you want.
