I saw these before the show on Sat, and then again on Sunday as I was sitting at a diner eating lunch. Also, as I stated here before, I went to see the performance art group call Blue Man Group, and during their show, they play these self mande instruments that are nothing more than long masses of plumbing pipes, that are all diff lengths, so that when struck on the end, they produce diff cords. Well, after a couple of songs, one of the 3 guys plays a bit of a tune from an old TV show, then another plays a few notes from another old show or movie, then the 3 guy, starts playing "Cars" and the audience really responded. If you ever go to, or are near Chicago, you should try to catch the show. end of thought transmission. I'd have to agree. It starts of very well with some class trax, then just deteriats as it goes on with some really 'average' songs at best. But I still also think that it's really only the first half of ULTRA that is outstanding at the second half is just average... interesting! I'm not amazed to see DREAM ON shoot str8 into the Top 10 (UK), based on the fact that Barrel Of A Gun (1st off Ultra) went in at 4 and considering the size of their dedicated fan base. Over all there are many trax on this album that sound like they belong to other DM albums... odd? - Ian x . _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 May 2001 20:11:23 +0100 From: "MARK SAUNDERS" Subject: OT Depressed Mode Tim, I agree. I haven't heard the album itself yet, but the 'Dream On' single was pretty awful, wasn't it? (The 2nd CDS with mixes on it was marginally more interesting). I bought it before hearing it (purely on DM's reputation), but wished I hadn't wasted my money! If that's the benchmark for this album, I probably won't bother to buy it. The last 3 DM albums have been getting progressively worse. They appear intent on moving away from the electronic sound completely (their strength), and sound more like "Just Another Rock Group" now! :( 'Violator' was the last album I really liked. 'Pure' is just SO MUCH BETTER! ;) Mark S. >Date: Wed, 2 May 2001 08:42:46 +0100 >From: thoutby@fusiongroup.co.uk (Tim Houtby) >Subject: Depeche > >Hello all > >Is anyone as disappointed with Exciter as I am ?? > >Very light, very sparse... not nearly as dark as it should/could be. > >Travelling a very different road to Numan now I feel.
