I read earlier in the digest that OMD once supported Gary, funny how things go in circles. Gary was great that night but OMD (well Andy McClusky and backing band) where crap, me and my friends left for the pub accross the road and we wern't the only ones. Did anyone else recieve a limited edition signed picture of Gary when they bought the Dream Corrosion CD??? or was it just an HMV promotion? I also liked Paper Toys and in 1991 (or 92 my memeory fails me) a band I managed at the time were asked to support Paper Toys at one of the dates of their own tour that they got as a result of the Numan tour. The venue was The Flag in Wembley, London which some of you may rememeber was run by Frank Drake who was closeley associated with Gary at the time, I don't know if he still is, and the place was packed out so Paper Toys must have generated some interest from Numan fans! Another support band for the records was Mr Guilbert's Circus who wee around for possibly the Outland tour in the 90's. Does anyone know what happened to them or Glasshouse for that matter who also used to play The Flag regularly? And there was also PAPER TOYS on the METAL RYTHMN tour (I liked them anyway, even if the majority didn't). ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 May 2001 07:10:16 EDT From: MHENSON305@aol.com Subject: Support acts --part1_55.155f65c9.282fc598_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Anyone remember WESTWON on the Exhibition tour. Now they were brilliant. They used Numan & John Foxx lyrics in their songs. After they split CUBANATE were formed from the ashes of Westwon. Also Test Department were supposed to be the support on the Outland tour but they pulled out! It was the '94 Sacrifice tour that should have had Toyah and her band playing but we got treated to about an hour of Gregorian chanting!! How could you forget that?? BTW other support bands you may have forgotten include the awful Mr Gilberts Circus, Glass house, BonBooshe, Sheep on Drugs, Inertia, Dolls Head, and who can ever forget the brilliant MESH. .......anyone for a full list??
