Urgh, yes. One single indeed - saw them at Leicester getting insults from the crowd - and the singer leaned down and said "I'd like to see u lot come up here and do any better "! Very professional...! Down the dumper... > What about Larry Loeber ? Didn't he get deported from the UK for entering= > as an illegal immigrant ? I think he was here as a "tourist" and couldn't get a work permit or something. Yes he did, and it appeared on the album "Children of The Night" which was on DinDisc; along with Deadman's Curve and 19th Nervous Breakdown which were the singles from the album. A 3rd single, Novel Romance was a single release only. Released another album over here on another label "And You Thought You Were Normal" and a few others in USA/Canada which came over on import. My favourite support act to be honest; doesn't seem to have dated as much as Tik'n'Tok have. > Hohokam....whatever happened to the supposed release of the album on Numa? Around that time Numa just didn't have the money to release the album/finish recording it (1 or the other) - that's the story I heard anyway. > From: "Colin Linskey" > Subject: Re: James Freud... > William Wilson, Glasgow Crazie says that James Freud was supposed to support= > Gary on Glasgow Telekon gig. But who was/is 'James Freud'??? He was Australian..announced as the teletour support initially I think (instead of Nash). Scraping the depths of my memory but it was "James Freud & The Radio Stars". No idea what kind of an act it was - I think Gary met him while out on the first tour - maybe again it was a work permit problem that led to him not turning up, can't remember now. I think Roger Mason who played keyboards with GN for a while was in Freud's band (again, this is just a half memory, it was a long time ago!) William, I've got a feeling that Nash the Slash may well be James Freud! The name James Freud seems very familiar to me. But, whereas I once discovered his real name years ago, I've forgotten it completely now! That's age for you..! ;) Anyone know? I don't remember seeing NTS at the London concert I went to on the Teletour tour, and he definitely wasn't on the video that was released. When he appeared at Gary's "Farewell Concert" at Wembley in 1981 (twenty years ago - blimey!), I remember being bowled over by the Invisible Man lookalike who joined the band to play electric violin (extremely effectively) on 'The Joy Circuit', so this was definitely the first time I'd seen him. Brings back memories... After that, I discovered who the bandaged musician was, and have collected a lot of his music. Like Gary's, it has a totally unique and distinctive style. I'm now almost as big a NTS fan as I am a Numan fan! Any other NTS fans in this group? Please contact me off-list. :) Mark S (UK). >Date: Fri, 18 May 2001 00:53:54 >From: "William Wilson" >Subject: Tele/nash/tour > >Hey Ultravox5,Nash the Slash most definetly did NOT play the whole UK >Teletour,Glasgow had NO support what so ever,GUARENTEED!!! > I do remember that a guy called "James Freud" was ment to play but I >think it was due to restictions on avaiable stage area that he didnt >play,Gary didnt want anyone getting a sneak preview of the stage set. > Cheers > William Wilson > (Glasgoe Crazie!) ------------------------------ End numan@garynumanfan.nu Digest [05/19/2001 18:01] --------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- T H E G A R Y N U M A N D I G E S T is produced, moderated, and distributed by Derek Langsford, Dave Datta, and Joey Lindstrom dlangs@sunstroke.sdsu.edu, datta@cs.uwp.edu, Joey@GaryNumanFan.NU ------------------------------------------------------------------- To reply to the messages in this list, email: numan@GaryNumanFan.NU If you want to be removed, or someone wants to be added, email: listserv@GaryNumanFan.NU and include this line as the first line of your message body: SUBSCRIBE numan@garynumanfan.nu (email address) or UNSUBSCRIBE numan@garynumanfan.nu (email address) (email address is optional but useful if you have multiple addresses) If you want to switch between receiving Digests or individual posts, again send to listserv@GaryNumanFan.NU and include either of these in your message body: NORMAL numan@garynumanfan.nu or DIGEST numan@garynumanfan.nu ------------------------------------------------------------------ Please note: this mailing list is configured to automatically unsubscribe you if mail to your mailbox goes undeliverable for any reason.
