I hope to see the new Speilberg/Kubrick "A.I." this weekend and from what I've been reading Numan's "Down in the Park" shoulda been on the soundtrack - a run down post-apocolyptic city where robots are torn apart at Flesh Fairs for human(?) viewing... Ahhh, where "mechas" (i.e. replicants) are more real than humans. As long as it isn't "disneyfied" in the end I think I'll like this flick - one review even mentioned the P.K. Dick book "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" - if it's like Blade Runner or Brazil or Clockwork Orange I will like it! No, LOVE it. Death death death until the sun cried morning! My fave numan lyrics: "Time heals nothing, it merely rearranges our memory"- I want this on my tombstone. "OK" - in She's Got Claws - VERY sexy echo on that! "In echo park I.....pause for reflection..." - sweeeeet! and many more.... I am in search of any fonts that resemble the ones used on any of Garys albums, in particular the Exile font. I know that "Rickshaw" very closely resembles the one used on Berserker, and I was just clued in on the fact that "Adolescence" is a sure match for the Pure album. Beyond that i could use some help. If you would like either of these fonts or have a different one you could send me please email me direct. Thanx. Quite strange why this track is different and not others. And I agree with the comment about the CD version of this album, it's a second rate amateur vinyl lift, with no post production whatsoever. Clearly just made to cash in on the few Numan fans who still remember Dramatis. Quite sad really. If you want to hear a decent remastered Numan-related album, go buy 'Intolerance' by Tik and Tok at http://www.timdry.co.uk You even get a previously unreleased track in the bargain. This album was remastered by a band called 'The Sepia' (http://www.the-sepia.co.uk) who have also remastered two live albums for Marc Almond, and are currently working with Tim Dry (aka. 'Tik') on his latest project. Compare your Dramatis Project version of 'Love Needs No Disguise' with the remastered version on Premier Hits... comparably on mine the DP version is like listening to a copy of a tape - hiss and muted. Is there different versions/pressings of the Dramatis Project? Mine came in a slip case... Rod Los Angeles ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Jul 2001 00:53:30 +0100 From: "antonio" Subject: Banzai! This was hysterical. Channel 4 (uk) have this crazy show called Bansai! - hosted by Burt Kwok (Cato from the Pink Panther movies) which is basically a mad Japanese gambling programme - they have weird situations you can bet on at home against your mates / wife / self. For example, they had Shaun Ryder from the Happy Mondays on one end of a see-saw, and the bet was "How much coke will it take to get Shaun Ryder higher?" - they then counterbalanced him with cans of fizzy cola drink. The Numan connection is this. The bet was who would win - a soccer striker with only one leg taking penalties against a goalkeeper with only one arm. Simple, bad-taste fun. As the striker hopped towards the ball each time, the background music was Films off The Pleasure Principle! For all 5 penalty kicks! It has to be the most bizarre Numan connected thing I have ever seen in my life :) The striker won, by the way.
