Subject: Eurorock 2001

The gods are with Gary.
Showers on Thursday, and a litlle storm and wind made the bit tent (Marquee
A) collapse. The tent where Gary was due to perform.
Friday, sunny but cloudy, no rain. Gary "had to" perform on the main
platform which was only due to be used on Saturday. (he should have been
booked there in the first place)
So, mainstage on Friday, and sun in the late afternoon.
Gary convincingly took over the crow after rather poor performances of Nina
Hagen and a desastrous Sigue Sigue Sputnik. In fact, Gary simply blew them
away.
Major cheers when finally AFE came up, and later on Cars got an
overwhelming response. An absolute fantastic version of I can't breathe, I
think everybody was convinced by then.
I did talk to some people, and I got remarks like 'We didn't know Numan was
that good'. On a CD stand I found 2 people wanting to buy Numan CDs, but
unfortunately none where available. Just to give you an idea of the first
impact.
I also talked to a journalist ("De Morgen" is the paper whe writes for),
who told me Numan was by far the best concert of this first day.
I'm going to buy some papers tomorrow, and will keep you all posted.
Oh yes, on Saturday Sulpher and Mesh were performing. Unfortunately, I'm in
a wheelchair still after a motorcycle accident, so I only went on Friday.
