Anyone own any of the old Fad Gadget albums? I'm looking for some of them. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Aug 2001 21:29:49 -0500 From: "PHILIP JACOBSON" Subject: Phil's three and an oddity Phil's top three for the week: The Cult, Beyond Good and Evil -- favorite track "Breath" The Wolfgang Press, Funky Little Demons -- "Chains" Gary Numan, Pure -- "A Prayer for the Unborn" Oddity: I was in the Texaco station and 26th and Cleveland yesterday at approximately 4pm, and I heard the "it'll send angels, send dark angels for yeow" coming over the store speaker. This is in South Dakota -- maybe you don't think it strange, but I sure did. I asked the cashier what station they had tuned in, and she said it was actually Texaco's own house music they had piped in from who knows where. So there must be an oiler that's a Numanoid out there somewhere I guess. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Aug 2001 23:01:47 -0700 From: Derek Langsford Subject: My top 3 of late have been Pet Shop Boys - Please (UK remaster w/ bonus disc) John Foxx - Modern Art (UK singles/best of collection) OMD - Navigation (UK b-sides collection) Plus both Babble albums (The Stone & Ether). Also listened to my fave tracks off Pure last weekend (One Perfect Lie, My Jesus, Prayer to theUnborn), but not whole album due to kids going to bed and the album needing to be played loud. Derek San Diego, CA P.S. If anyone knows of a Eurpoean CD of Ether I could buy please let me know. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Aug 2001 08:49:16 +0100 From: vickers@netcomuk.co.uk Subject: Re: P.S. P.S. Lately the three albums that never seem to make it back into my cd racks are: 1) Alphaville - Salvation (Has hardly been out of my player for more than a day or two since I received it last Winter Solstice.) 2) Gwenmars - Driving A Million (Anyone have their first? Is it as good?) 3) Gary - Pure (Much as I love/hate it, I can't seem to get away from it for very long.) Oh, wait, we were supposed to pick three other than Gary? Uh, well, let's see... I guess then it would just be two.... Oh, I've got one! 3) Resident Evil 2 Soundtrack (Whatever happened to Gary possibly doing something like that? Shoot, I think that would be perfect for him.) > Amy Ray - Stag Why does that not surprise me from you, Lisa? I wonder what some of those "womyn-centered womyn" are saying now that their heroine has gone "male-centered" in her sound? > Carpenters - As Time Goes By > (new Japanese cd of unreleased tracks) > Human League - Secrets (UK) > Japan - Assemblage > (new Japanese remaster in LP style sleeve) > > honorable mentions: > Tweaker "Linoleum" (featuring David Sylvian on vocals) > the Abba remasters (Sweden) > the Pet Shop Boys remasters (UK) I think we can safely conclude Rod is both into camp and is a BIG completist! What do you think of those Pets remasters, Rod? (You can post it to the "Boys Like Us" list to keep the off-topic watchdogs from complaining, if you'd prefer.) > I like to listen to The Monday Troop on > the way to work and The Life Machine > on the way home. Dang, if those songs are in any way related to your experience of your workday, K, you've GOT to get another job! Steve Webbon, where are you? We're all waiting anxiously to hear your list: 1) Gary's 'I, Assassin' (remastered with newly discovered bonus tracks!) 2) Gary's 'Warriors' (remastered with newly discovered bonus tracks!) 3) BB's Gary remixes set I called it, didn't I? You're giving them the listen-over before their finally pressed and released, aren't you?
