Eagle! This is what you are: making a big mistake ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Thu, 23 Aug 2001 22:32:04 -0500 From: "Val & Ben Iglar-Mobley" Subject: Hey! Eagle! This is what you are: making a big mistake > Since Gary probably will be > shopping for a new label soon... Oh, no. Not again. As discouraged as I was to see your comment, Zerfboy, it looks like you're right. This from the man himself: > The meeting with Eagle Records regarding > my future with them has now taken place. > To sum it all up I can stay if I want to, if I > agree to some deal changes. I'm thinking > about it. I'll let you all know what's going on > as soon as I decide. At the moment I'm > concentrating on the festivals. Dang. I thought we'd made it out of that wilderness? The irony of it is that 'Pure' has to be Gary's most accessible, public-friendly album since The Machine, with an obvious marketing niche all set to receive it: industrial. As I discovered at that tattoo party, there's now even an all-video channel ready-made for the kind of sound he created on it-- MTV-X. This'll be the first regular Gary album not to have any singles released from it since... sheesh, all the way back to the 'Tubeway Army' debut. It's crazy. Gary's had exactly three songs since The Machine that have absolutely demanded a single release: "We Take Mystery," "A Question Of Faith" and "Listen To My Voice." Even if the decision was to forego a single release, that song still should've gotten onto some promo pressings to be sent out to college and alterny radio stations. A live album from this set would've been Gary's own 'Frampton Comes Alive.' He could've even done another single to go with it, something like the live "I Can't Breathe." Imagine seeing a concert video for that on MTV-X! What is it with label execs? Why don't they recognize obvious ideas like this? Hey, Steve Webbon, since Beggars Banquet are once again releasing more Gary material than any other label is (thank you, thank you), feel like signing him up again for his new releases? Just thought I'd ask. Well, I suppose we can be grateful for the 'tour edition' and the tour interview disc. We may not be getting the climax of any b-sides for this album, but at least we get some foreplay of their snippets and some remixes. No orgasm of a full live album, but anyway some heavy petting of a few live tracks. New posting thread: who has the lowest number on that 'tour edition'? Mine is 536. Ben http://home.earthlink.net/~iglarmobley P.S. I had a dream that Grand Theft Audio were actually Gwenmars in disguise; they wanted to see if anyone would figure it out. ------------------------------ End numan@garynumanfan.nu Digest [08/24/2001 18:01] --------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- T H E G A R Y N U M A N D I G E S T is produced, moderated, and distributed by Derek Langsford, Dave Datta, and Joey Lindstrom dlangs@sunstroke.sdsu.edu, datta@cs.uwp.edu, Joey@GaryNumanFan.NU ------------------------------------------------------------------- To reply to the messages in this list, email: numan@GaryNumanFan.NU If you want to be removed, or someone wants to be added, email: listserv@GaryNumanFan.NU and include this line as the first line of your message body: SUBSCRIBE numan@garynumanfan.nu (email address) or UNSUBSCRIBE numan@garynumanfan.nu (email address) (email address is optional but useful if you have multiple addresses) If you want to switch between receiving Digests or individual posts, again send to listserv@GaryNumanFan.NU and include either of these in your message body: NORMAL numan@garynumanfan.nu or DIGEST numan@garynumanfan.nu ------------------------------------------------------------------ Please note: this mailing list is configured to automatically unsubscribe you if mail to your mailbox goes undeliverable for any reason.
