Rick in DC --part1_9e.1960e04d.28b99f88_boundary-- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Aug 2001 14:57:32 +0100 From: berserker@btinternet.com Subject: Beggars Banquet stuff I have also wondered why Gary has not re-signed to Beggars Banquet. Steve Webbon seems to be as much a fan now as he ever was and Gary is just as saleable (sellable?). I always thought the problem at Beggars was Nick Austin but I don't think he's there anymore. It would be good to see Beggars pushing Gary's new material being as they've milked his back catalogue for so long. Did anyone else notice that the songs covered on the two 'Random' albums were tracks to which Beggars owned most of the publishing rights (how come none of the bands covered anything post-Warriors), too much of a coincidence methinks. With reference to Ian's point about DVD's, I don't think Beggars own the Micromusic footage, I think Gary does. I'm not sure about 'The Touring Principle' though. I'm sure Steve Webbon still reads this digest - how about some comments?! Brian ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Aug 2001 12:25:55 -0400 From: Terrence Thoman Subject: PAL vs. NTSC I recently purchased 'The Touring Principle' through eBay. The box is original and the tape appears to be also. The box indicates the the tape is for American standard TV, but when I play the tape, the picture basically looks like the vertical hold is screwed up. If I play the tape on fast forward, the picture looks okay. I understand the concepts of NTSC vs. PAL, but if someone with experience can tell me if this is what I'm experiencing, I'd appreciate it. Terrence ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Aug 2001 23:39:31 +0100 From: "Alan Ross" Subject: DVDs Like Mark and Ian (and many others, I'm sure), I'm desperate for some sort of DVD release, but I reckon just releasing Micromusic, etc would be an opportunity missed. I'd rather see something along the lines of the recent BB CD releases - gather together as much material as possible - Concert footage, promo videos, clips from TV and so on - and bung it out remastered. In an ideal world, I'd love to see a DVD per album, but there would never be enough material, so maybe a DVD to cover 78 - 80, and so on. Then finish off with a seperate DVD with all the Promos on it. I assume the earlier concert footage was shot on film rather than video, so there may even be a possibility of a Widesceen option. Anyone know if this is the case?
