Imagine SEEING the Machmen meeting the Machines, actually witnessing what goes on Down in the Park, or observing the man with a long coat, grey hat, smoking a cigarette... Gary could be part of these films, not necessarily singing, but somewhere in there like an Alfred Hitchcock appearance, made up again in the styles of the various album sleeves: his characters from Replicas, Pleasure Principle, Telekon, Dance, etc. The possibilities are huge, and Gary's music has always had a very "visual" and "epic" feel to me, particularly the early albums... Great idea, Tik Tok Man! :) Mark S. UK >Date: Sat, 22 Sep 2001 16:33:33 +0400 >From: "The Tik-Tok Man" >Subject: DVD > >Just to be different, here's a Numan-related post. OK, the concert of tonight is sold out, Gary's performances on festivals always get good press and he's in the best form for a long time, releaseing better and better albums over the past years. But I will never forget, when Gary left BB, how hard it was getting his records her in Belgium before the internet. I had to have them imported and pay more than any other record. Also, let's hope the new record company doesn't get access to the back catalogue. I don't want a dozen other compilations being re-released. By the way, this will be the first concert in London since 1983 (!!!) i will not attend, (still due to my motorcycle accident of almost 5 months ago) so please all feedback here is more than welcome. I hope for everybody going over there, some "new" tracks will be played. How tiresome it has been to read the forcefed ignorant/misguided thoughts/views about the terrorist attacks. People, there are plenty of boards that you can go to that would appreciate your input. Please show respect to those of us that want to read about Numan and take your thoughts elsewhere on that topic. Somewhere, where if we want to know your thoughts, we can go to, too. I read with some concern that Gary seems to be without a label again. Given that they have done, what appears to be, a useless job of promoting him, it seemed that he had to make concessions in order to stay there. Clearly, he needs to see huge improvements, not concessions. So, I believe that he made the right decision, but it does leave us with the prospect of no releases in the short-term again (or tours or anything else). But, I have read that Gary would be interested in moving that part of his operation completely to the States. So, I thought that perhaps Marilyn Manson's label might be good choice? The two have collaborated before and we know that Manson is a fan of Garys. Of all the groups that I have seen, Manson's stage show comes closest the Numan of Old's. On the last tour, his label's new band were the support. I really think that Manson's crowd would love Gary. I wore my GN t-shirt to the last tour, and had several people come to me who were turned on to Gary because of Manson's DITP cover. Although, somewhat ironically, you may wonder, I am not sure what affects the terror attacks may have on the Manson tours (where, for example, it is common to show feelings of rebellion etc., by burning the US flag). What does anyone else think of this? -Stuart Booth --part1_55.1b1560d7.28df6b56_boundary Content-Type: text/html; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Well, thankgoodnes that the self-imposed Sunday is here.
