I write to tell you of last Sunday’s concert! I have been laid up with a bad back since Wednesday, but I do not think it was caused by the concert! As for ‘miming’, and all that stuff, I don’t know what that is all about. Maybe certain portions were on backing tape, but I for one never noticed. I was met with great kindness. Urban, from Sweden, gave me a copy of the VH1 tape, which I hope to watch in a few minutes. Inside, I was on the first balcony, and Marc Pariset, from France, found me, in the dark, and invited me to set with him, his wife Natalie and another French fan, Joel. By the time I arrived, Greenhaus were already on. They were punchy, fast, and tuneful. I really enjoyed the first couple of tracks I heard, electronic music with a beat, but some of the later tracks were more ‘experimental’! There were samples from Adam and the Ants and Joy Division, but otherwise they were essentially an instrumental line-up of three keyboards and a guitar, with occasional spoken words, rather like Richard Burton in 'War of the Worlds'. Gary played the following set list: 1) Intro, which turned into MY JESUS. 2) PURE 3) METAL 4) LISTEN TO MY VOICE 5) DOMINION DAY 6) ABSOLUTION 7) WALKING WITH SHADOWS 8) ME, I DISCONNECT WITH YOU 9) LOVE AND NAPALM. Now, I could have just imagined this, but perhaps others can comment. Did Gary change (or add) a verse towards the end of the song, making it relevant to the September 11th massacre? 10) RIP 11) VOIX, with an extra musical interlude 12) PRAYER FOR THE UNBORN 13) I CAN’T BREATHE I think there is where they came on for an encore: 14) FILMS 15) DOWN IN THE PARK 16) I’M AN AGENT 17) ARE ‘FRIENDS’ ELECTRIC A good show, and a very professional performance. No real surprises, in terms of old tracks specially dug up, but in several sections songs had been reworked, but not so raically as to cause astonishment! I’d like to go to the next one! I have a couple of bootlegs that sound OK. Would be nice to hear it for real though.
