Ruff rider, The Eagle reissues for the numa records are not remastered from source tape. Eagle really fucked up here and I wish Gary never signed over these albums to them. There are noticeable faults all over the place on the Berserker reissue.. Listen closely to the fadeout on track 1 if you want to see for yourself. Another thing I noticed is that there is no ISRC (a signature put on CDs that CD-Rom's can read, CloneCD for example will read this) on any of these CDs.. all the beggars banquet Cds and EMI (Outland and Metal Rhythm) have them.. and guess what, I love the quality of those reissues. It's a sad world out there. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Nov 2001 03:07:29 -0500 From: Mark Hubbard Subject: Artful info Well, I popped over to Artful to have a look see, and one of the links over to the left is Random. The SAME logo, and type font as on Beggars Random tribute CD to Gary. I find that odd, or is it because of Steve Malin you think? At any rate, for label names, I was thinking maybe Alien for a tie-in, or maybe even , nah, never mind! LOL It also looks like Gary will have a separate label for the states. If that is the case, would there be a conflict issue if he went back through Cleo? Thinking out loud Mark Hubbard ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Dec 2001 21:53:18 EST From: DCGaySLP@aol.com Subject: Year-end thread....best of 2001? Greetings Numanoids!!! Just wondering if people would like to share their "best music of 2001" here on the Numan Digest? Things have been a bit thin this year on the Numan front, so I'm just wondering what others have been buying or listening to this year? Here's my top 5 (or 6 or so) for the year- no particular order..... 1) Sigur Ros- Agaetus Byrjun (an absolutely amazing Icelandic band!) 2) Staind- Break the Cycle 3) U2- All That you Can't Leave Behind (I was initially very apprehensive about what I imagined this CD would be like, but it has exceeded my expectations enormously....not to mention the fact that I saw U2 here in DC twice! Woo hoo!) 4) Laurie Anderson- Life on a String (poignant and very appropriate songs that seem to fit the mood of the time it was released...late summer....I saw her live the week after 9/11/01 and was moved to tears by her songs and lyrics, as was much of the audience) 5)Tool- Lateralus 6) The Cult- Beyond Good and Evil I'm dying for the remasters of Warriors and I Assassin to come 'rekindle' the Numan fires which have ebbed somewhat.....I still play Sacrifice quite a bit but Pure seems to have gone to the wayside for the time being. Come on, everyone, put your ideas in the pot here.....I often discover new bands and great CD's from lists like these :) Rick in DC......Happy Holidays everyone!! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Dec 2001 11:44:03 -0500 From: "hopey1970@home.com" Subject: Artful's website remark (the pessimist in me) In order to defend myself (sorry Tim!), I was remarking on Artful's web site being incomplete, not Gary's new and excitin= g career path. To Artful's web master: If it ain't complete, don't put it up! Seriously, would you peruse a website, espe= cially a label site, if there was dead links and links with absolutely no info on the page about the bands you're promoti= ng? I do websites and to me that's a BIG no-no. It's scary. It's just wrong. "Under Construction" should be banned from b= andwidth! At least the site design is decent. But Artful sounds like a good label, it has some good artists on it. Let's = just hope they are more organized than Eagle. And, yes Virginia, I am a pessimist, can't help it! NOW THE POSTITIVE: Gary's own site is great and I am always amazed that he has the time to update it. It's good to know that he can now dire= ct the path in which he wants to go in - maybe he'll have a better street team - US!!!! To me this new deal says his next= album will be wickedly amazing. How's that for positive? HAPPY WINTER SOLSTICE ALL YOU PAGANS OUT THERE! :) Hopey, the negative nelly. P.S. - Sometimes I find that Gary is down on himself moreso than the fans. P.S. #2 - His new studio setup looks nice. -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ . ------------------------------ End digest@garynuman.info Digest [12/19/2001 18:01] --------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- T H E G A R Y N U M A N D I G E S T is produced, moderated, and distributed by Derek Langsford, Dave Datta, and Joey Lindstrom dlangs@sunstroke.sdsu.edu, davdat@allmusic.com, Joey@GaryNuman.Info ------------------------------------------------------------------- To reply to the messages in this list, email: digest@garynuman.info If you want to be removed, or someone wants to be added, email: listserv@GaryNuman.info and include this line as the first line of your message body: SUBSCRIBE digest@garynuman.info (email address) or UNSUBSCRIBE digest@garynuman.info (email address) (email address is optional but useful if you have multiple addresses) If you want to switch between receiving Digests or individual posts, again send to listserv@GaryNuman.Info and include either of these in your message body: NORMAL digest@garynuman.info or DIGEST digest@garynuman.info ------------------------------------------------------------------ Please note: this mailing list is configured to automatically unsubscribe you if mail to your mailbox goes undeliverable for any reason.
